“We’d always talked about getting married and we knew that we were a sweet match so we both decided that we’d go shopping for rings,” says the bride and groom. Just one of the reasons we love Celeste and Lach, who held their wedding in their beloved Ballarat, “It’s such an overlooked city, we’ve got loads of memories in the cold hills of B-town.” Jackson Grant Weddings documented the day and boy are we glad! Scroll down for all the beautiful details and pics galore…

THE INSPO “We essentially just wanted it to be a colourful, cosy party with our nearest and dearest. We didn’t want many formalities and we translated this to our wedding team.”

FAVE DEETS “The cake made by my mum – it was a homemade passionfruit sponge with fresh cream, passionfruit curd and edible flowers. She had trialed and tested multiple sponges leading up to the big day. We also just geniunely enjoyed the atmosphere that our venue Hydrant Food Hall and our florist Ingliston Flora created, it was colourful, relaxing and full of human sunshine.”

THE DRESS “I had spotted a Puyan Saheb Djavaher dress (it was, in fact, her own wedding dress) on Pinterest literally years prior to our engagement. The lush, colourful embroidered flowers had completely blown my mind, and I knew I didn’t want anything overly traditional. I’m a pretty pale gal so I wanted some colour! I had to do some hardcore internet sleuthing to find Puyan’s legit contact details. I reached out about 13 months prior to our wedding date and Puyan’s team were amazing. The whole design process was communicated via email, they sent a little draft dress (plain potato sack material essentially haha) to test my measurements and then I received my final dress, all the way from Berlin, in the mail. Such a smooth experience. ”

THE SUIT “I said from the start that I wanted something loud, and when I stumbled upon James from Reigner‘s Instagram I knew I wanted one of his suits. I initially filled out a bizarre online form that James had made up to gain insight on what suit his clients were after and after our first meeting, I decided that we were going to have a green Australian bush-themed suit.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Do what’s right for you, don’t feel locked into traditions, and invite who you want to invite – if someone gets offended for not getting an invite, they’re really not your friend.”

STANDOUT VENDORSJackson Grant – our fabulous photographer made the experience so much more enjoyable, with both his witty humour and guidance. Mich our celebrant, she smiled the entire time and guided us through the whole ceremony. Hydrant Food Hall, they were simply the best, all lovely and the food… oh my, it was divine.
