The sweetest couple to match the sweetest blooms, table styling, cake and arbour we’ve seen in a while! The muted colour tones are simply delish (topped off by the groom’s neutral Suitably get up) and their loved-up feels leap out of the photos by Oliver Smith. Scroll down for our chat with the happy couple and the rest of the captures, stat.

THE VENUE “Lucy wanted to be by the ocean and I wanted great food. We looked at a handful of venues but couldn’t look past Pilu at Freshwater. We also managed to rent a house for our friends and another house for the family just down the road. The after-party was definitely one to remember!”

THE INSPO “The inspiration was an eclectic mix of our love for Mexico and a relaxed boozy lunch! We opted not to use a stylist so Lucy managed to pull everything together! She paired bright colours, (matching the Poppies For Grace Streamers, DIY linen napkins by our Aunty Heidi, and candles) with ratan and we even had a wedding cake piñata. Thanks to our friends Lauren, Wayde and Charlotte, we used all the decorations from the ceremony straight into the lunch with bouquets in vases and the streamer altar into a bridal party backdrop.”

FAVE DEETS “Our wedding favours, the shot glasses, were shipped over from our dear friend Edgar that hosted us in Oaxaca, Mexico. And our table settings were a big DIY project thanks to Claire, my mum Karen and Aunty Heidi. We made oyster shell candles. My mum is an amazing calligraphist so she handwrote names and my Aunty Heidi made colour-matched linen napkins that rivalled anything you can buy online… get yourself an Aunty Heidi!”

THE DRESS “My best piece of advice when it comes to the dress is to take yourself to Perfect Day Bridal in Willoughby and speak to Julie and Tania. I didn’t have a dream dress but my experience was extremely fun with these two. I did have a little scare when the dress arrived with a lower neckline than designed, but credit to the team, it was fixed within the week! Having the right people around you is what matters because hiccups will always occur – the goal is staying calm and getting it sorted!”

WE’RE GLAD WE…Oliver Smith Photo helped us organise the day with photos before the ceremony. This meant that there was no downtime for our guests after the ceremony and I think it was the best way to go. The mood was so high it was non-stop laughter and fun all night long.”

STANDOUT VENDORSOliver Smith Photo! He quickly became a member of the bridal party and made sure we had the best time all day long.”
