Describing themselves as high school sweethearts who met at a “yardie,” (yes, we had to ask what this was… “a party at someone’s house in their yard” in case any of ya’ll were wondering), it’s safe to say we liked this couple from the start. Then they told us about the “bedazzled beer bong,” and it really got our attention! Engaged for two years, they managed to outrun COVID affecting their wedding and we are so glad, as we couldn’t love it more if we tried. Scroll down for all, along with the pretty pics by Elk & Fir…
THE INSPO “We didn’t want a theme to limit us. The overall vibe matched our personalities and relationship. Most of our guests and vendors said that it definitely wasn’t like any other wedding they’ve been to, but it was 100% one of the most fun and entertaining, which is all we really wanted – a carefree and wild wedding that everyone remembers (for the good – lol).”
FAVE DETAILS “We really loved our CoolStubby wedding favours with an outline of our dog, Hershey, that said ‘Cheers, love Hershey!’. But, we’d have to say that our wedding cake from Peace of Cake was our favourite detail. We ordered a Shag Cake, which isn’t your traditional wedding cake, [but] was the first one we have ever seen be fully eaten at the wedding and we still have guests talking about how good it was!”
DIY “We made a bedazzled beer bong – going for that bogan chic vibe?”
THE DRESS “When we went home to Central Queensland, I decided to book a few bridal appointments at local bridal stores so that I could give my mum those once-in-a-lifetime memories. I wasn’t expecting at all to find my dress until Mason Bridal Boutique in Yeppoon. Kara, the owner, provides an exceptional experience – her designs, knowledge, and honesty are beyond compare.”
THE SUIT “I had always pictured wearing a green jacket with sandy-coloured pants, apparently green looks good on me (according to my wife – not biased). I went through a boutique called When Freddie Met Lilly, ran by the amazing, Vanessa Ford. I loved every bit of the experience – Vanessa made me feel welcomed and comfortable – I couldn’t speak any higher of her.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Having Hershey (our doggo) be the ring boy. It took us a good five minutes to encourage him down the aisle because he couldn’t recognise us, then as soon as he realised it was us it took us another good five minutes to get the rings off his little suit tie because he couldn’t sit still due to his excitement.”
STANDOUT VENDORS Three of our vendors made a real impact on our day. Our photographer, Carissa of Elk & Fir, videographer, Patrick of This Love and celebrant, Bek Tymms Celebrant. Carissa and Patrick both captured our day exactly as we had hoped by relishing in the quirky vibe and atmosphere of our wedding day. Bek delivered the most amazing and fun ceremony for us – she has the ability to turn an ordinary ceremony into a fanfare!”
