Meet Priya and Maanas – a couple who have “sensible day jobs” and side hustles we are loving on, hard! “I am a corporate lawyer and Maanas is a data analyst,” says bride Priya. But out of hours, she writes and performs poetry whilst Maanas is a stand-up comedian!
Maanas tells us he was “itching to propose” as soon as he got the ring, but after Priya said ‘yes’, pandemic lockdowns forced them to wait a while before getting to ‘I do’. But heck was it worth the wait! Beautiful pics by Tyler Brown, stunning lighting courtesy of Festoon, and some of the most vibrant, incred wedding-day ‘fits we ever did see.
THE VIBE “We wanted our wedding to be intimate, effortless and joyful, reminiscent of those sun-tinted, hazy summer days. This feeling guided a lot of our choices. We wanted to be under the sun and stars, so opted for open air rather than a marquee. We had warm lighting over the tables and bright seasonal flowers to complement the surrounding nature. We then focused on having plentiful and good quality food, drinks and dancing!”
FAVE DETAILS “For me it was the flowers and light, it was like golden hour on steroids! My memories are just filled with this dazzling golden honey light that was interspersed with lush vibrant florals.”
TAKE ON TRADITION “Priya’s family is Sikh and mine are Hindu. We believe it’s important to celebrate traditions even if we are a little removed with each passing generation. The day before our reception we had a proper Sikh wedding ceremony at the local Gurudwara (Sikh temple) and on the day of our reception we were able to hire a setup next to our reception spot for a traditional ‘Mandap’, where a small Hindu ceremony was held to celebrate the Hindu component of our marriage. We also used this opportunity to have our vows – it was nice to have this pre-reception, it added to the heart of what the event was really about.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Hired a wedding planner, and our only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner! Kiera from Little Things Events was a lifesaver especially as we were switching from an indoor to outdoor venue and were really at a loss for energy after multiple date postponements.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “A special mention has to be made to Tyler Brown (our photographer), who shot multiple of our events, and was just the coolest and most down to earth guy and captured the most stunning moments.”
