For Talya and Marty, getting married at Avalon Sailing Club was a no-brainer. “We always knew we would have it at Avalon Sailing Club. We left from here when we went sailing for our engagement. Marty grew up sailing here. We didn’t look at any others. Also, it’s on the water, it’s unique and it’s beautiful,” says Talya, who adds that their vibe was more about the location than anything else.
“There was a vision I had originally, but then you realise how much your vision will cost! I loved our laid-back, rustic/vintage theme, which worked with the rustic deck and hall, and ended up working perfectly with wearing my grandma’s dress.”
That’s right, Talya absolutely rocked her grandmother’s 66 year old bridal gown (and makeup by the oh-so talented Liv Ludelius) before changing into a lovely Lost In Paris Bridal after the ceremony, which was put on by celebrant Sophie Coombes.
“We absolutely loved Sophie, our celebrant. We met her and knew she was the one. She was so friendly and kind and made our day so amazing and personal, giving us awesome suggestions to make our day very special, to solving problems for us on the morning of the wedding. We can’t recommend her enough,” the couple, who recruited Hello May fave Matt Godkin to capture their day.
“Matt did our photography and was super laid back and chilled. Everyone was comfortable around him. He stayed all day and night and got the best shots!”
