For Erin and James, all they needed to create their dream day was an epic wedding venue and one awesome photographer. Held at Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel and photographed by Nina Claire, they decided nonetheless to throw in a few added extras, like colourful bouquets by Northern Beaches florist Blossom and Willow and a fab cake by Black Star Pastry.
“We wanted rich popping colours in the bridesmaids dresses and flowers and a bit of a rustic but glamorous feel”, says Erin about the inspiration behind their day.
Watson’s Bay, located on one of Sydney’s most popular waterways with stunning city views, provided a beautiful space for their laid back ceremony but it was their adorable flower girls, wearing sweet dresses by Bardot Junior and Tutudumonde that stole everyones attention – at least until Erin appeared. “She looked absolutely stunning”, James says of his wife who wore a Rachel Gilbert gown.
“My dress is the Evita gown from Rachel Gilbert. I tried on a few dresses before we got to Rachel Gilbert but I knew this was the one and I got the last ivory Evita gown available. It’s really unique with the Art Deco style beading and glamorous and comfortable as well. I also ordered a beautiful hand made beaded sash to go with it”, says Erin who completed her look with a flashy pair of Alan Pinkus – a designer known for combining style with comfort and who you can check out here on our directory.
Having spent days prior to their big day designing invitations and sewing her own hessian aisle runner, Erin was pleased when it came time to hand the responsibilities over to their celebrant Russell Hansen, who used a whistle to keep guests quiet. “He is so funny and had everyone laughing which was great because we didn’t want the vibe of the ceremony to be too serious. It also helped to curb our nerves!”
