The morning of Candice and Hugh’s wedding also turned out to be the morning of one of the biggest world cup games, the Wallabies versus England playing at 5am. “Due to the popular demand from our guests to watch the game, the Berry Hotel opened up where everyone was able to watch the game and ended up getting a bit drunk! After the Wallabies won the game the happy excitable mood certainly carried on throughout the day at the wedding with many references in the speeches about the win!”
Held at Willow Farm, Hugh always wanted to have a destination wedding to ensure that the wedding wasn’t just one night and that people could make it a weekend away. “We both love the countryside so decided so wanted it to be on a farm somewhere not too far from Sydney. After leaving Willow Farm we both automatically knew this was the one and had already visioned what the day would look like and what we could do with the property.”
Captured by Mitch Pohl, the couple hoped to create a romantic feel for their wedding, allowing the beauty of the farm to be the main focus. Thanks to South Coast Party Hire, the couple hire a clear marquee where “you could have an unobstructed view of the lake, the shed where the dance floor was and the stars,” explains Candice, who hired Garnish Catering to take care of the grub.
“Every single person at the wedding said it was the absolute best wedding food they have ever had. Not only did they have a high standard, Jo worked with us to come up with our menu choice, was flexible in offering us additional oysters and was happy to lend me bowls, wooden boards, accessories and helped set up for the grazing table and desert table. She honestly went above and beyond.”
While Candice advises other couples planning their wedding to stay organised, be prepared for hard work and get your friend and family involved, Hugh’s reply got straight to the point… “Get a good wife.” Bless him.
