Amy and David quickly realised that they didn’t need to travel far to have a destination wedding. “The inspiration behind our wedding was the venue”, says Amy of The Riad in Byron Bay. “The Riad transports you through India, Morocco, Spain and Mexico in one breath. We used the venues incredible bohemian luxe feel to create an unconventional, casual, chic, sophisticated and elegant wedding.”
Married by one of our fave Byron Bay celebrants Cara from Modern Love Ceremonies and dressed in a breathtaking lace gown by Monique Lhuillier from Helen Rodrigues with a garter from our friend at The Bridal Trousseau, Amy says, “It was such an amazing gown to wear. I felt sexy, classic, comfortable and uniquely me all at once.” However, her favourite part of the day she explains, was when Hungry Like The Wolf began serving dinner. “It was a combination of having all our closest friends and family all seated in the gorgeous art room of The Riad, the amazing food… the band that started playing Van Morrison’s Moondance and the sound of chatter and singing that just took my breath away. I remember looking at Dave and telling him how beautiful this moment was and that I wanted to remember that feeling forever.”
Luckily photographer Gavin Wyatt was there to capture every moment, including Dave’s grand entrance into the pool. “Unfortunately jumping into pools from roofs is one of Dave’s occasional party tricks and this party was no exception.”
