Travelling around Oz full-time, and doubling as content creators (not a bad life, eh?), while planning their wedding didn’t phase these two. Flying by the seat of their pants, Jess and Luke locked in a date and made it happen. “We actually had no idea when we would arrive back home to Melbourne,” Jess said. “So we picked a random date and told ourselves we just had to make it home in time for the wedding.”
Assembling a rockstar list of vendors helped ensure it was all smooth sailing – the lovebirds were dressed by our faves Grace Loves Lace and M.J. Bale, with rings by Natalie Marie Jewellery, while the legendary Light and Type took the most gorgeous pics.
THE VENUE “We both love being outdoors and exploring, so it had to be an outdoor wedding with lots of natural greenery. We were in Darwin at the time, so after looking through several places online, we decided to have a video tour with Julia from Mewburn Park and after meeting her and seeing around the venue we straightaway knew it was the one.”
THE DRESS “I always knew I wanted something simple. I’ve always loved silk bias-cut gowns – it is such an effortless look. I looked around for a few months and tried on SO many dresses but nothing really stood out to me. I finally decided to purchase a dress and then one month later Grace Loves Lace brought out their silk range and I fell in love. Their Dove gown was exactly what I had been looking for. I had to get it!”
LITTLE LOL “Both Luke and I like to, let’s say… party a little too hard sometimes. So of course by 9pm we were both on the dancefloor with shoes off, Luke’s shirt completely unbuttoned, singing into microphones and attempting to breakdance. We think we might have some of the funniest reception photos we’ve ever seen.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Had two of our friends MC for the reception – it was the best decision ever! By having familiar faces making everyone feel welcome, we felt it really set the tone for the night ahead.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Everyone went above and beyond to make our ideas and special day come to life. Our photographer Nic from Light & Type was incredible from the very beginning, I felt like I was a pretty clueless bride-to-be most of the time and she was definitely a lot of help with how we ran our day.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Plan a day that reflects you both. It can be hard getting caught up in what is trending or worrying about expectations. Remember that it’s your day and that your guests will be there to celebrate your love.”
