It may have taken Teresa and Thommy 11 years to tie the knot but their wedding was certainly worth the wait. Their day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at Thommy’s parents house, followed by a civil ceremony that included a few borrowed Jewish customs. Teresa tells us, “we checked with our Jewish friends beforehand and thankfully everyone was very supportive and into the idea of a ‘Jewasian’ wedding.”
Between their second ceremony and the reception, Thommy gently helped Teresa change out of her elegant red cheongsam and into an equally gorgeous, white lace Lover gown. Held at The Grounds of Alexandria, a place renowned for its food and fairytale charm, it was the perfect venue for their intimate day. “We were fairly relaxed about planning the wedding – all we wanted was to throw a beautiful party for our friends and for it to be filled with lots of love and laughter”, says Therese.
Tom and Therese also did well in choosing Alma Photography to capture their delightful day. The same talented team that shot this gorgeous film of Pauline and Kieran, who are featured in issue 5 of Hello May, on sale now.
The most memorable moment of their day however, came as surprise from one of their family members. “The most unexpected moment for us was the speech Matt (Teresa’s brother) gave”, says Tom. “Matt is usually a quiet and shy man. So when he asked to give a speech we were both happily surprised. He had us in tears and laughter the whole way through. A definite highlight not just for us – but for our friends also!”
