Don’t go anywhere just yet – this is one wedding you’re going to want to see. With photographs by Jess Jackson, stationery by The Print Fairy, makeup by EV Hair and Makeup and a venue named Shamba Malaika (try saying that 10 times) there’s a lot to love about Tara and Brett’s day of good times.
“We are a really relaxed couple and wanted the vibe of our wedding to reflect our personalities. I wanted to get married outside in a natural environment and wanted to keep it as light hearted and personal as possible”, says Tara, explaining that their venue – an enchanting 150 acre farm on Queensland’s Gold Coast – inspired most of their decisions, many of which were left to the last minute.
“We did keep the family tradition of keeping things to the last minute”, says Tara who didn’t discover her Zimmerman gown until two months before the wedding. Luckily, everything came together in the end to create a relaxed and intimate affair with live music by Isaac Paddon, petite DIY bouquets, beautiful bridesmaids bling by Seawolf, an outdoor fire pit and plenty of good food, friends and family. “The entire day was filled with laughter it was such a fun, relaxing day we wish we could relive it again!”
Next time however, they’d happily accept anyone’s offer to help. “If your doing a DIY wedding like we did let people help, we constantly had everyone offering help but turned it away up until we were desperate but really in the end everyones help is the only thing that got the wedding together.”
