In the majority of cases, a lost pair of diamond earrings would be tragic…but for Sophie it meant something entirely different. £Daniel came home from work one night and as we were sitting on the couch he pulled out a box. He went on to say that he felt bad that I had lost my earrings and that he had got me something to replace them. Little did I know that when he opened the box it was an engagement ring!
Held at Pope Joan in Melbourne, the couple decided to place the spotlight on a feeling rather than a theme for their ultra-relaxed celebration (with blooms by Pomp and Splendour). £We are so glad we kept things simple. We couldn’t have asked for a better day! We just wanted it to be easy with minimal formalities so we could both enjoy it. We wanted it to reflect our approach to life and mirror the things we are passionate about being good food, good drink, good company, explains Sophie.
The cruisy vibes kicked in again when it came time to shop for the dress, according to the bride-to-be, who hit High Street in Armadale with a simple goal in mind. £I didn’t really have any idea about what sort of dress I wanted, just that I didn’t want anything too bridal or over the top. My dress was the third one that I tried on and it fit perfectly and was very comfortable, which is very important if you want to spend a lot of time on the dance floor!
With the venue and dress ticked off the ol’ to do list, Sophie (who wore Houghton NYC)and Daniel were able to focus on other things – like locking in legend photographer Lilli Waters of I Got You Babe Weddings and pinpointing their personal take on marriage. £It’s a unique opportunity to have all of the important people in your life together in one room, a great excuse for a big party! Plus it’s nice to be able to call each other husband and wife.
And with tying the knot also came a few added bonuses, thanks to Daniel’s clever organisational skills, including surprising his bride with a short film on the morning of their wedding (featuring interviews with all of their friends and family), a super special visit from their bow tie-donning dog Percy during their portraits and one final thing…Daniel did replace those lost diamond earrings!
