Oh, how we love a Tinder success story here at Hello May HQ! These two lovely lads, originally from the UK, have been together for five years. Saving their dollary doos for house building and future bubs, the duo eloped with a handful of their faves and the result is pretty darn sweet. Now, scroll down for the goods captured by the lovely Cheryl of Cedar & Salt Photography (whom the couple booked just a week out!)…
THE VENUE “Andy was working in Byron at the time and we used to walk down Wategos beach and Rae’s a lot. We decided it was symbolic because it was the first time we both felt settled in Australia.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our celebrant and photographer were AMAZING. Literally we couldn’t have asked for better for either. They made our day what it was. Kirsty was so cool and chilled and made it feel so personal. We felt like we’d known her for years! Cheryl was unbelievable. We are not a touchy-feely couple but she made us laugh so hard I even agreed to kiss Andy!! Haha. Her photos have blown us away.”
THE SUITS “So we went to Brisbane because let’s just say clothes shopping on the sunny coast isn’t ideal. We didn’t have a clue where to go and stumbled upon Politix in Brisbane’s Queens Mall. The manager there, a lovely lady from South Africa, found out we were eloping and literally dressed us like barbie dolls! She chose trousers, belts, shoes and matching bowties!! She was amazing and it meant we were done in just one hour!”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “Standing barefoot in the water on the most beautiful beach with close friends just in disbelief at how lucky we were to be getting married there. There is something special about Byron bay and to get married on the beach there was worth having a smaller wedding. We are never romantic with each other and so the vows were quite emotional and our best mates even said they’d never heard us be so complementary to each other (we normally joke around but these were serious). For us the day wasn’t about other people it was about me and Andy committing to each other and the most special moment was being pronounced husband and husband on a beach in a country we now call home. It shows how far things have come that two men can do this out in the open and be made to feel to welcome by everyone.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “I would say chill out and relax. Don’t spend a fortune and don’t get caught up on tiny details. We planned it last minute and we didn’t spend ages planning or buying things. For us, it was about me and Andy. Our families are just happy we are happy and took pleasure in seeing how happy we were. The little details that get so many people stressed out are insignificant.”
If Rob and Andy’s sweet nuptials have you yearning for your own coastal shindig then please do hop on over here for some coastal wedding inspo that we kindly prepared earlier. Now, scroll, pretty peeps!
