Have you ever heard of Lindy Hop? Neither had we! But now that we’ve seen these fabulous photos by Christine Lim we’re keen to give it a go. Although we’re kinda uncoordinated it seems more realistic than trying to build a wedding car, like Lawrence’s dad did – plus there’s no way ours would ever look quite as cool.
Looking at Rebecca and Lawrence’s fun-filled wedding is like having order envy – we want what they have. Some sweet moves and the ability to play the sax especially. Rebecca tells us “We met in 2004… at a school jazz camp (we both play saxophone) but we didn’t get together until we were both at uni in 2006”.
It then made sense to have their ceremony at Scotch College in Perth, where they first met and their reception at North Perth Town Hall where Rebecca tells us they spent many evenings learning and dancing Lindy Hop (1930’s swing dancing) together. “Lawrence and I were so keen to have everyone up and dancing at the reception. Having a live band play was always a must for us, and we would have hated everyone being too afraid to dance…”, says Rebecca. “We taught a couple of dancing classes for our guests in the lead up to the wedding, and it was just so special to see everyone crammed on the dance floor boogie-ing away way into the night”.
Their quirky, vintage and fun retro vibe set the mood for their day and inspired a lot of their decorative choices. It also tied in beautifully with Rebecca’s adorable Aubrey Rose lace gown. “Their gowns are gorgeous, and have a beautiful vintage feel about them that was so perfect for me. They took time to help me craft my dress into something that truly reflected me and I am so grateful for their help and support in the lead up to the wedding”.
