Michelle and Hollis ensured procrastination had no place in planning their big day by giving guests just two weeks notice. Keen to get together to celebrate their love, these two keep it simple by channelling lots of plants and lots of fairy lights. Oh, and doggos. Lots of doggos! Naturally, it was a brilliant day made even better by the grooms dapper M.J. Bale suit. Lovely lens-lady Stories by Ash was on hand to capture the intimate gathering. Scroll down to take a peep…

DIY “Everything was DIY! We knew exactly what we wanted (thank you Pinterest!) and with such a small wedding we were able to do exactly what we wanted! Having said that, on the day, it was definitely a team effort. Our families all got together and did everything from setting up the furniture to laying out our gorgeous grazing table (thank you, Poppy!)!”

REFERENCES “The most important thing to me was the photographer and I found Ash (Stories by Ash) through Hello May! I searched the directory and fell in love with her style. Sunset shoots, natural, happy and romantic. Exactly what I wanted!”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “At the start of the walk down the aisle I saw Hollis dancing to the song Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Suede and it instantly put me at ease and made the walk enjoyable! The girls and I were dancing, Hollis was dancing, our guests had big smiles on their faces – it was amazing. Also, just before we started our walk, the puppies noticed us and raced down to meet us, gave lots of kisses, and walked (wrestled) back down the aisle with the girls and I!”

A WORD OF ADVICE “My advice is to keep it small. Invite only the ones you truly love. We spent quality time with each person and it was lovely. Also, have your pups there! We had 4 pups at the wedding and it was so special. They had a special chicken meal and ran around and played all evening. At the end of the night Honey curled up on my train and napped (Ash even captured the moment)! We couldn’t imagine the wedding without Honey and Mister!”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We had a no photos rule while our photographer was there and we’re so glad we did. We definitely noticed how everyone was in the moment and it was so special to spend the evening without phones and cameras!”

STANDOUT VENDORSBerry Vintage were great. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. And Ash from Stories by Ash was amazing. She was very professional and friendly. I was anticipating that with a wedding of so few people having a stranger there would be a little awkward but it couldn’t have been further from the truth.”

This lovely day was originally published in Issue 25 of Hello May magazine. If you’d like to get your hands on a copy do head over to our online store. We will even throw in an extra issue for your perusing pleasure! How good is that?! If it’s the groomsmen that have you in a swoon then be sure to check out more M.J. Bale goodness here. But first, scroll down for some extra cute doggo shots…
