A year abroad taught Marnee and Dave some great life lessons, like not to sweat the small stuff. So when it came time to plan their wedding, nothing was a drama – until Marnee realised she didn’t have a dress. “A week before the wedding, I still didn’t have a dress so I was madly looking through Hello May blog posts..and found Kitsch Bitsch! The lovely Alyssa replied to my email immediately and express posted me a dress which luckily fit just right! ” says Marnee.
Marnee and Dave bravely self catered the entire event, serving guests a range of Mexican dishes inspired by their travels through Central America. “Mexico was one of our favourite countries – the colours, the people and the amazing food!” says Marnee, who along with Dave’s stylish sisters brought some of their favourite memories of Mexico to life with brightly coloured flamingoes, striped rugs, sombreros and fairylights from Firefly Lighting.
Their backyard wedding was beautifully captured by photographer Jess Jackson, one woman who sure knows how to take a pretty picture. Jess tells us, “I think my favourite part of the day was Marnee’s aisle walk through the kitchen! So good!” For Marnee however, it was having all her family finally together. “I was so excited about my brother and sister in law arriving that I arrived two days early to pick them up from the airport. Rang my brother and turns out he was at work….”
