When we think ‘quintessential spring wedding’, something resembling Marisa and Matthew’s comes to mind: vineyard views, soft, whimsical tones, and an evening of festoon-lit dancing. “We weren’t too concerned with fuss or frills,” the couple shared. “But wanted our guests to leave feeling the love in the room and feeling like they had a little look into our hearts.”
Upon visiting their peaceful Warrandyte venue, The Farm Yarra Valley, Marisa and Matthew were quickly won over by the stunning scenery and “genuine warmth of the team”. “It just felt so us — a beautiful boutique winery with incredible food and the perfect intimate dining space. We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon it and couldn’t have been in better hands.”
To fill out the rest of their professional support crew, Marisa and Matthew did their research via friend recs, local knowledge, social media and “of course, Hello May!” (Aww!!) Below, the newlyweds shout out some of the standout folks who helped bring their vision to life (looking at you, Perla Photography!) Plus, M&M share favourite moments and crowd-pleasing details you’ll probably want to pinch.
SOFT SPRING BLOOMS & CROWD-PLEASING CAKE
“We adored our flowers from Elsa and Gray, Chloe went above and beyond and really just nailed the brief. We wanted textures with soft spring colours, and were blown away with her arrangements. Our cake was also one of our favourite details, it was so stunning. We went with Good Good Cake, as Pip has some mean piping skills. We envisioned a classic look with the raspberries on top, which she executed perfectly. Not to mention, the cake was absolutely delicious as well, with many of our guests commenting on how great it was. . .”
THE FIRST LOOK
“.We wanted to give ourselves that time to enjoy the cocktail hour with our guests and for that to be possible we opted to take some photos prior to the ceremony. We really loved having that private time and seeing each other in private. We were then able to get some couple shots and bridal party photos at the stunning location. We really loved this part because the vibes were HIGH. The sun was coming out, we had some champagne, music and everyone was excited for the next part – the ceremony!!”
Wedding home movies
“I’m also really glad we got our hands onto some second hand camcorders to record parts of the day. Matt used his dad’s vintage recorder and I used a Sony handheld camera, found from Facebook Marketplace. Since we didn’t have a videographer, we wanted to be able to capture different moments of the day with the style of a 90s home movie. From getting ready, to friends and family arriving at the ceremony and our first kiss, we got just what we needed. The videos are just so sweet and something I know we will cherish in years to come.”
WINNING WEDDING FAVOURS
“Our guests are definitely still raving about our wedding favours, which was a personalised art piece by Halle Dot Art. We wanted our guests to walk away with something that wouldn’t just be thrown into a drawer, thrown out or forgotten. Halle was fantastic and incredibly impressive. Our friends and family adored her artwork and really valued her efforts in the personalisation of her drawings. Honestly, we were all blown away.”
Yarra Valley Wedding Photographer – Perla Photography
“Perla Photography went above and beyond to capture not only our day, but us as a couple, perfectly. They were a vibe to be around, having fun and also capturing some unreal shots when we weren’t looking. Perla Photography actually saved us at the eleventh hour when our original photographer was unresponsive. She answered our queries immediately and luckily for us she was available. For the moment we started talking to her we felt like we were in such great hands, and will be forever grateful that she was able to take us on. We are obsessed with our photos and have had so many compliments on them. We love how she captured our smiles, our playfulness but also those more serious and heartfelt moments with care.”
