The vibes were wholesome, and the aesthetics were true to the couple (love to see it!). Think big, bold sleeves for the bride courtesy of Aje, quirky Peggy and Finn socks peek-a-booing from the groom’s shoes, and don’t think we missed that Bec + Bridge moment from the bridal party. THE VENUE “We had looked at a couple of venues before heading to Commonfolk. But as soon as we walked in, saw the place, and spoke with the events manager, we knew we had to have our wedding there. They were so accommodating during the whole planning process, have an incredible connection to the local Mornington community and its businesses, and they made it so easy when we needed to change the date and let us run with any ideas we had for the day.”
FAVE DETAILS “Lu handmade our incredible wedding sign [which hung] from the Commonfolk rafters. [It] looked absolutely impeccable. We also decided to go a bit rogue with the ‘signing book’ and turn it into an art project, where all the guests could drop an illustration/colouring in alongside their well-wishes! Still trying to figure out where in our apartment to hang it!
THE DRESS “Up until a week before the wedding, I had an entirely different wedding dress that I was planning to wear. I had bought a dress a few months prior and didn’t feel it was exactly what I wanted. I had resigned myself to wearing it and talked myself into feeling like it was the right way to go when I came across the Aje dress I ended up wearing. I’m so glad I found it in the end. I absolutely loved my big puffy sleeves and had so much fun dancing the night away in it!”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Definitely our flower ‘boy’ (grown man)! He stole the show. We asked a good friend of ours to be the flower boy and he went all out for us. He had everyone absolutely captivated with his combination of dance moves, recreated iconic football celebrations and general hilarity. We’ve been saying since the wedding that he was born to play that role.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Had everything at the one venue and had no gap between ceremony and getting straight into dancing/reception! [We] needed to do a ‘first look’ and photos with the bridal party pre-wedding as a result, but that was also fantastic. Nipping out for some golden hour photos before re-entering for our first dance was also a big highlight.”
