Cameraman Billy and Florist Linzi met just under 5 years ago on a backpacking trip in Langkawi. Whilst their memory is fuzzy after drinking a bottle of scotch, they know it definitely ended with a midnight skinny dip (as all good nights do). We enjoyed this one a lot including the brides stunning Bo and Luca gown which she picked up from the lovely ladies at Hope X Page. Scroll down to see more pics captured by our friend Madeline Kate

THE VENUE “With so many people travelling from around the world we wanted to keep things local and show them Melbourne. The first place we lived together was in Richmond, just down the road from, The Glasshaus Inside. It’s an operational plant nursery and we used to stick our heads in there when we were hungover because it has the freshest air from all the amazing plants. It was the first place we looked at and we knew it was us straight away.”

THE DRESS “Billy actually helped choose my dress. I was dreading the whole dress shopping thing and never had a ‘dream’ dress in my mind. The first time I went dress shopping I was so intimidated by the whole thing, I tried on one thing and left. Following this I flew to Sydney so I could go shopping with some of my enthusiastic ‘weddingy’ friends. I still didn’t find anything but I did discover Hope x Page. I pretty much knew I would be able to find something in there that I loved. I ended up going back there a few months later with Billy who is brutally honest and showed him a plain slip dress I was looking at but didn’t love. Billy said the slip dress was “alright” but when I came out wearing another dress we had seen it was kinda like a ‘when you know you know’ moment and we both loved it. The real test was when we went for brunch before committing to buying the dress- I came back and still found it super comfy after stuffing my face.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “To maximise the time we got to spend together on the day we spent the morning together, went for brunch and a run then went to get ready with our pals before meeting up again for some pre-wedding Monopoly Deal, gin & Espresso Martinis.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Make it a day about you guys and make a weekend of it if you can! We were lucky to have so many people travelling from overseas the week before our wedding. It was one huge party (and a real challenge trying not to drink all our wedding booze) and the week after we had our ‘buddymoon’ in Langkawi which 30 of our friends came along too which suited us to a tee. By having so much on around the wedding we didn’t have the urgency catch up with every guest at our wedding and just had fun dancing and knowing we still had another week of fun times ahead of us which we feel very fortunate for.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “ We were really glad that we had the wedding filmed. Billy had originally been against the idea because as a cameraman he thought he would have been keeping an eye on the cinematographer all day. Thankfully, completely out of the blue, a friend of Billy’s offered to film the day. It was so nice to be able to look back on the day and see people that might not have had been in photo’s that day.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer- Madeline Kate, we pretty much chose our wedding date from her availability! Ainsley from the Glasshaus was a  complete legend and all over everything, she helped Billy with everything in the planning of our day and set the venue out amazingly with zero guidance from us. Also Vikki who made our rings, Billy found her to make my engagement ring and she is the most amazingly talented lady and a dream to work with. All our vendors were completely amazing- Pepper Sprout hire even made us benches to fit the Glasshaus aisle area, that’s service for ya!”
