Meet Leah and Kaleb, who were married on Leah’s parent’s 45th wedding anniversary at one of our favourite venues in Melbourne, The Altar Electric. The couple let the venue’s uniqueness and vibrancy be the inspo for the celebration, which Had To Be You Weddings captured perfectly. Dive into the photos below…
THE VENUE “ We live in Queensland so we had checked out a few venues in Queensland but we have a love for Melbourne and a lot of our friends and family are there. When we came across The Altar Electric there was absolutely no question. This was the venue for us! Leah’s dad was unwell and at that stage he couldn’t travel very far so once his health declined that sealed the deal to get married in Victoria. Our only priority was having our people together and the sun shining and we got both.”
THE VIBE “Love, togetherness, fun, glitz and glam! We both love the 1950’s, rock n’ roll, the fashion and music and everything that comes with it. When we came across The Altar Electric we couldn’t believe how perfect a fit it was for us.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “My favourite moment was walking down the aisle on my dad’s arm, and looking at my husband-to-be with a big beautiful smile on his face. My dad looked so dapper and proud. He passed away a few months after the wedding.”
FAVE DETAILS “We live in Queensland so Mum arranged the flowers. She just said to them, ‘something small and vibrant” and they created a beautiful bright bridal bouquet with a matching tiny bouquet for our daughter to carry. She also made four yellow pin roses for the Dad’s, Groom and Son. We didn’t see them until the morning of the wedding and they were perfect.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “The day ran so smoothly. The Altar Electric took care of everything, we just had to rock up. They were so flexible and cruisy – nothing was an issue for them. They took any stress from the situation and just made us all feel like we were in our own home. Everyone was already pumped and celebrating with a drink in hand when I turned up and walked down the aisle. It was the most loving experience. Photographer Laura at Had To Be You Weddings was fabulous! She is so vibrant and personable we felt very comfortable to just show off our best selves.”
LITTLE LOL “When we were saying our vows, our daughter Aerys came up onto the platform when the celebrant said, ‘Hold each others hands’ and she took both of our hands. It was the sweetest thing.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Be prepared so you limit any decisions on the day, but if something isn’t as planned just let it go. The most amazing part is immersing in the love of everyone around you.”
