Friends, let us intro you to Kirstie and Oliver, two all-time cuties who believe marriage means “choosing the other person each day and being there for them through the good and bad, always. It is about being best friends and being understanding.”
We guarantee you’ll be as obsessed with their big day, held at beautiful Beach Byron Bay, as we are when you roll on through the amazing snaps captured by our mate Beck Rocchi Photography. “I had fallen in love with Beck’s work many years prior to getting engaged and when we decided on getting married in Byron it was an easy decision. I loved that her images captured fun and weren’t too serious or cheesy!” – the perfect match for this easy breezy laidback wedding. Ready for the deets? Yeah you are.
THE THEME “We didn’t want to have a super-traditional wedding, we wanted to incorporate traditions such as a meaningful ceremony however we wanted to do the day how we wanted – which was quite laidback, colourful and just with our nearest and dearest there to celebrate with us. We wanted it to feel like a celebration of love without it being too over the top. Ollie is a very fuss-free type of person so I think he kept me on track with that!”
FAVE DETAILS “I am a huge floral lover and I found it very hard to decide on the final look I wanted! I knew from the beginning I wanted whites, blues and peachy pinks with lots of greenery however it was a revolving project. Flowers were probably the main thing for me aside from the venue! Estelle at The French Petal was very helpful and understanding with my changing plans and I loved what she did with our flowers on the day.”
THE DRESS “I fell in love with my Harriette Gordon gown after seeing it in a photoshoot a few months after getting engaged. I then had to wait until February to try it on at a trunk show at Bluebell Bridal in Melbourne as the designer was based in WA and with border closures, there was no way to try it on prior! I knew from the beginning that I didn’t want a sleek dress as I prefer things with more volume. I instantly fell in love, however, I did have some second thoughts as it was pale blue and a little different to the traditional white dress. I am glad that I followed my heart and chose to wear it!”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “A really joyful moment from the day was announcing to our families during speeches that we were pregnant and expecting a baby! Only our parents knew at the time so it was special for us to tell the others.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Beck Rocchi was great to deal with and we were really happy with our photos – we didn’t get beach photos because of the crazy wind on the day but we were happy with how our pics turned out!”
