We still might not know what a chic-a-cherry cola is but we certainly know an epic elopement when we see one. Deciding a run-of-the-mill wedding wasn’t their style, Kiandra and Ross abandoned their hometown in Melbourne and travelled over 15,000 kilometres to Iceland with photographer Levi Tijerina to get hitched.
“On the wedding day itself, the weather was typical Icelandcold, rainy, and cloudy. It rained almost the entire day. But these two were out to have an adventure”, says photographer Levi who climbed through lava field and trekked through endless seas of lupines to capture these breathtaking images.
Having always been drawn to getting off the beaten path, Kiandra and Ross spent the days leading up to their wedding picking flowers from the side of the road and finding the perfect spot for their ceremony.
“One of the days earlier in our trip we spent driving around scouting for a spot for the ceremony and that’s when we found the field. It was a perfect example of Iceland’s amazing landscapes, vast open spaces with soaring mountains in the distance”, says Kiandra who wore a beautiful two piece ensemble by Lovely (which cost her less than $200!)
It was here that, before heading to the roadside service station diner for something to eat, this pair agreed to become husband and wife for life. “Our favourite moment of the day was when the celebrant was finished… We looked at each other and laughed, we couldn’t believe a wedding could be so easy, simple and completely beautiful.”
