On their seven-year anniversary, Katie (in ARA Experience) and Mitch (in M.J. Bale) got hitched at The Lodge Jamberoo. “Other venues didn’t stand a chance” after the couple toured this charming spot on NSW’s South Coast.

“The most magical, perfect 25 minutes of our lives” is how the newlyweds describe their ceremony. Another highlight? The welcome cards – personalised, thoughtfully written thank you notes that awaited each of the couple’s 80 guests. LOVE!

But really this just scratches the surface. Take a peek at the pics below for more delightfulness. Oh, and by the way, Lucy of Translucent Photography was the one behind the lens – a pro that the newlyweds (and we) would recommend “time and time again”. “She was so natural, talented, hilarious and made us feel confident about ourselves.”

THE INSPIRATION

“We just wanted it to feel natural, for guests were happy and for everything to be true to us which is exactly what we got. We wanted to be able to customise things that were important to us (eg. welcome cards) and wanted vendors that had the same vision as us…”

DIY WEDDING DETAILS

“The welcome cards were all hand made and designed by myself. I begged a best friend to write, using her calligraphy skills, all the names on the envelopes [for] the welcome cards. We DIY-ed the stands for the welcome cards to sit on. [It] took hours and a small gust of wind knocked them all over and destroyed that idea within seconds on the day. All our linen signage was made by a beautiful friend who spent hours designing and making [it], including our ribbon place cards, tied around the wine glasses.”

WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING IN SYDNEY

“I went to a lot of bridal stores all across Sydney (maybe 12 stores). I found it incredibly stressful and disheartening. I never felt like I was going to find the dress for me. I found ARA and went to their free 1.5 hour appointment (already impressive) and tried on their modular dresses that they could modify and swap skirts / tops to suit what I wanted. I tried on the most base-level of their dresses and my bridesmaid nearly cried. We knew straight away it was the place for me. Throughout the process we struggled to find the material that we wanted and I do regret not getting a more floral pattern rather than the 3D flowers. I also wanted a pink dress but didn’t like any of the pink fabrics they suggested.”

M.J. BALE FOR GROOMS

“Mitchell found his suit pretty fast from M.J. Bale. He knew he always wanted to go with a sand colour suit. The biggest issue was getting all seven groomsmen together at once to go shopping, and finding a suit that suited all the heights and different body shapes. M.J. Bale was great.”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

“Seriously everything. It was very funny that I was struggling to be alive as I partied too hard the night before till the moment I walked down the aisle I was feeling so sick. Our first looks were very special. A funny moment was sending the Best Man up for a spontaneous speech. However, he knew the boys would stitch him up, so he anxiously wrote like four speeches in case. We loved jumping in the pool at the end of the night with the whole guest list. We then all ventured into a hotel room and partied all night. But our very favourite memory (sorry TMI) was conceiving our baby that night and now expecting a child in December.”
