Back in issue six, we learnt that putting up with gatecrashers at your own wedding, isn’t always such a bad thing. You see Kat and Dave’s special day, captured by Glenn and Lauren of Still Love and held at picturesque Donnelly River in Western Australia, wouldn’t have been the same without a few guest appearances from the local wildlife population. A nod perhaps to Kat and Dave’s very first date.
£Our first date was at the zoo, says Kat. £Every animal in the place was asleep so it was up to us to keep one another entertained, but the conversation and laughter came so easily. I think we were pretty much smitten with one another by the end of that day and have been together ever since.
Eight years on and Kat and Dave are still smiling – even after all the blood, sweat and tears that were poured into planning their dream day. Kat, a florist and owner of Poppy and Rose tells us, £the whole wedding was very DIY so it was a busy day and night before the big day. I had the sewing machine out for weeks, all the bunting, table runners, bomboniere, gold glitter votives and of course our cake were made by family, friends and me! On the day they were probably way more involved then they would have liked to be.
But the morning soon flew by and before she knew it Kat was walking down the aisle. Looking back on that moment she tells us £Dave looked so handsome in his suit, he was beaming, I don’t remember taking my eyes off of him, my dad was teary, Dave was teary, this made me teary… it was just the happiest moment of our lives so far.
For husband Dave, his favourite moment happened shortly after the ceremony, when the nerves had finally settled and he was able to admire his gorgeous new wife in her stunning custom made gown by Sarah Louise Designs.
£I’m extremely lucky to have the very talented Sarah as a best friend. Together we designed the dress, drawing inspiration from a few different gowns. She did an incredible job, my gown was exactly as I dreamed it would be. It fit perfectly, says Kat who makes getting married sound even better than watching Magic Mike with a bag of bounty bars.
