KARA & JAIDEN’S PERTH WEDDING

Kara and Jaiden’s ‘old world elegance’ meets ’70s-inspired wedding has been living rent-free in our heads. As a florist and a venue owner, this bride and groom are no strangers to the wedding scene, teaming up with a collective of talented vendor buddies to bring their vintage vision to life.

Honestly, where do we even start? The bride and groom’s divine vintage-esque ensembles, the too-cute-to-cut cake, the live jazz tunes? Every inch of this heartwarming hitch is picture-perfect perfection straight outta a nostalgic family album. We could keep yappin’ for days, but you need to get your eyeballs around these happy snaps from Keeper Creative — words simply won’t do this day justice…

FAVE DETAILS “It would have to be the live jazz music playing throughout dinner. It really created an elegant vibe! We also couldn’t go past the art form that was our cake! Jo from The Cake & I created the most sculptural, perfect, mini sugar fruit-covered cake of our dreams!”

DIY “I had a few crafter-noons with my two friends from Pop-Up Planning and Creative Line + Co, and we also did our own flowers, so we were all on-site, Jaiden, myself, my mum, and Daniela and Laura from Creative line & Co and Pop-Up Planning the day before, setting up the reception space until late that evening haha! I also made extra large bows for our cocktail and cake tables and countless ribbon bows for our ceremony piece and the guest tables.”

THE DRESS “Possibly one of my favourite things I have ever worn. It took me about three to four dresses purchased from various online stores to finally come across MacGraw. It’s the perfect mix of retro without being too costume. I knew I wanted a shorter style dress – which is actually really hard to find – as most short dresses are designed as a more casual ‘second’ dress for the day or super summery, and never felt special until I found this from MacGraw. I paired it with some opaque white tights to give me a little more warmth and add another layer to the retro vibe.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “We picked a particularly upbeat aisle song with the intention of making [it a more] light-hearted and fun moment, not overly serious. So, as the height of the song reached, Kara was walking toward me down the aisle, between all our family and friends, everyone started cheering. It was a really uplifting and surreal experience. The whole ceremony turned out to be more than we had ever thought it could be – we aren’t very sentimental people, but it really was just a perfect mix of everything a ceremony could be for us both.”

MARRIAGE MEANS “Getting to call up the vets and change our dog Charlie’s surname so that we are all a part of one family.”

LITTLE LOL “Our cake maker made part of our cake with a foam base, and we had a slab cake to serve our guests for dessert. However, we forgot which part of the cake she had made with real cake and which was not, so when we stuck the knife into the cake, it became stuck, and when we tried to pull it back out, we almost knocked the whole cake and plinth over! Our photographer Hannah captured these moments PERFECTLY!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Wrote our own vows – it was hard to do in the lead-up but well worth it. It’s a moment you wouldn’t normally do in day-to-day life, telling them everything you love about them and the relationship you’ve built. We’ve kept the booklets of each of our vows, and I’ve reread them now and again.”
