Thanks to her career in marketing in the pet industry, Jean is a self-confessed “professional crazy dog lady,” and this spiked our interest. Then we saw her crochet jumpsuit, guys! And it’s clearly a vibe so we simply had to see and know more. Renee Green Creative was the lens lady responsible for the pics, so scroll down for all the details…

THE VENUEWe were originally planning a 200 person wedding on a family property just outside of Brisbane. In the end, with the changes brought by COVID, we felt so lucky to snag Agnes Restaurant in Brisbane. Newly opened, it had a six-month waiting list so we really didn’t expect to secure it, but when they had a date and time available we immediately locked it in and planned everything else around it.”

THE INSPO “We didn’t end up having a theme in the end and by happy accident (and a few joint decisions where it mattered), everything worked! We didn’t coordinate outfits or have a matching bridal party and any questions we were asked about the day (dress codes etc) were met with ‘You do you, baby.’ So I guess that’s probably the best description of our vibe on the day. We wanted everyone to feel completely themselves, as did we.”

DIYEd made our arbours for the ceremony and the vases for our reception lunch at Agnes which were spectacular. We had the best intentions to part with them after the day was done but so far, I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it! We had planned a lot more DIY adventures but time simply didn’t permit. We also realised in the end, that you and your guests can still have the most amazing day without all of the traditional bells and whistles. We focused on the things that really mattered to us and the day was perfect despite not fitting the traditional wedding mould.”

THE JUMPSUITI loved my jumpsuit so very much. The jumpsuit I wore at our after party was so much fun, but it was the wedding and reception jumpsuit that has my heart. A close friend recommended Nevenka to me after I struggled to find something that I felt comfortable wearing.”

REFERENCESI didn’t want to overthink the planning too much. Between friends, Hello May, Pinterest and a few key hashtag searches on Instagram, we had all we needed to help us find what we were looking for.”

LITTLE LOLI tripped walking down the aisle in my giant shoes, I got Ed’s name wrong in my speech at the reception (I’m blaming nerves), it started bucketing down right as our ceremony commenced! We had loads of human moments that lightened the mood and took the pressure off. The whole day was great! Good and ‘bad’.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “In the planning process, know that you could plan a dozen beautiful versions of your wedding that would all be different (and equally amazing) but start making a few of the really important decisions and everything else will start falling into place.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…Had a videographer. It wasn’t originally on the high priority list, however, as soon as I knew my family and Ed’s siblings wouldn’t make it on the day (the borders opened the very next day if you can believe it!) we realised a video capturing the day, for our family, was essential. It’s become one of our favourite and most treasured memories of the day and will be forever. It captured more than we imagined it would and Chris at Woodvine & Co’s editing skills are phenomenal. He captured everything in the day that was important to us and weaved it into the most perfect and accurate story of how we felt about our day.”
