Jas (of the Real Wedding Special) didn’t skimp on the search for her perfect gown. Having tried on an estimated 15 to 20 dresses, this bride says she knew she’d found the one straight away. £As soon as I tried my wedding dress on, my mum and I started crying. We just knew it was the one. Plus, the dress’s name is Irene’ which is my grandma’s name.
The gown, made by Wendy Makin, was a sure stunner. Just ask groom, Sam, who declares his fave moment of the whole day, without a doubt, was £watching my best friend walk down the aisle with her dad and all of my absolute favourite people watching. Easily the most special moment of my life – something I will never forget.
Having known each other for about four years, this passionate pair settled on a nine month engagement to give them time to plan their nuptials at High Church, a heritage style event space just minutes from the CBD. £When we walked into High Church, we just knew. It’s so simple and elegant. We just walked in and decided then and there, it has
that wow factor, explains Jas, adding that the couple’s main focus in the lead up to their big day was to keep things fun and stress-free.
£We were encouraged to enjoy the time we could call each other fiancû?’, as a lot of couples get frustrated but we took our time and enjoyed the process, these now wedding planning experts tell us, reminding couples of one imperative piece of advice…don’t settle. £Give yourselves enough time to create and plan the best day of your life. Time is key. What’s the rush? If you do it well, you won’t regret a thing. The best is yet to come.
Having seen photographer Janneke Storm‘s incredible work before, Jas and Sam agreed that the Hello May veteran was the perfect fit for their day, Jas adding that she’d always envisioned something industrial glam with a touch of romance.
While Jas admits that there were standout moments aplenty including walking down the aisle with her pops (who was well-equipped with typical dad jokes), jumping into the car with Sam at the end of the ceremony is something she’ll never forget. £We were just looking at each other laughing. We couldn’t believe we were just married’. We had been planning and anticipating this moment for so long and it happened. It was done. All we could do was laugh.
