The key to Jane and Tom’s incredible day was knowing plenty of people with a trick or two up their sleeve. Jane invited one sister (A.K.A The Ink Refinery) to help create their stationery and signage and another to bake their cake. Meanwhile her grandmother was in charge of making mango chutney for each of their guests while her dad was left in charge of building their marquee lights. “Tom’s groomsman built us an amazing big open-air pallet dance floor, complete with festoon lighting”, adds Jane of one of their favourite and final projects.
Held on Tom’s family property in Mackay on Queensland’s east coast, they literally built their day from the ground up. It wasn’t all DIY however, with The Flower Planner, Fairview Tavern, Blank Goods and Pavey Films all adding their own piece of the puzzle. “We ideally wanted our wedding to feel like one big family gathering followed by a homestyle dinner. Chosing jewel tones, gold accents and modern calligraphy helped us avoid the ‘country theme’ that we wanted to avoid purely because we thought that’s what guests would expect, given the location”, says Jane whose stunningly embellished Rosa Clara gown was a far cry from anything typically country.
All beautifully captured by photographer Nick Evans, Jane and Tom are pleased they will be able to remember each magical moment, many moons from now (namely those that happened on the dance floor). “We were both on such a love-high already and then to be completed surrounded by so much fun and shameless dance moves made for one incredible wedding day memory.”
