Jane and Mitch, envisioning a garden wedding, walked through Brisbane’s iconic New Farm Park and thought, “Why not get married here?” And that they did, on their third anniversary, following up with an intimate feast at Italian restaurant Rosmarino just down the road.
Wholesome and heartfelt, these details hit us in the feels, like the place cards featuring an illustration of each guest drawn by the groom himself (!!) Meanwhile, Jane’s mama made her veil “complete with hand stitched daisies”, and Mitch’s InStitchu suit “generated the most compliments from the whole day”, according to the bride.
Looking back, these newlyweds were glad they went for a close-knit, simple, and relaxed vibe. Their advice? “Invest in a good photographer.” Adding that “Taylor Kezia did such an amazing job capturing not only all the big moments but also the small moments that made the day so special to us.” Scroll on to see for yourself and catch our chat with Jane and Mitch.
THE VENUE “We have always loved the idea of a garden wedding – something relaxed and in nature. New Farm Park felt like the perfect place for two homebodies like us! In terms of our reception venue, our main priority was delicious food and drinks. We immediately fell in love with the intimate, cosy atmosphere of Rosmarino. It felt like we had stepped into the heart of Italy (and the food tasted just as divine!). Being a family-owned restaurant, you can just feel the love and care Lauren and Andrea (the owners) have poured into such a beautiful venue. It was also the perfect size for our intimate gathering, complete with a fairy-light-lit courtyard for our margarita cocktail hour and dancing.”
DIY “Mitch is an amazing designer and illustrator, so best believe I was going to make use of his talent! He created all the wedding stationery, each with its own custom illustration featuring the two of us. Rather than traditional name tags, Mitch drew an illustration of every wedding guest. It was so much fun to watch our family and friends admire Mitch’s illustrations and take pictures with their drawings.”
REFERENCES “We found the incredible Taylor Kezia from Hello May! Mitch knew the talented Kyle Bryant, our musician, from school, so it was easy to find a trusted source of live music for the day.”
THE DRESS “I wanted something timeless, simple, and most importantly, comfortable enough to dance the night away in. Silk Laundry’s wedding dress collection ticked all the boxes. However, my absolute favourite part of my whole look was my veil. My mum is an incredible sewer and made me a beautiful veil, complete with hand-stitched daisies.”
THE SUIT “I love suits but rarely get a chance to wear them, so I saw my wedding day as an opportunity to do something different and express myself. I thought a double-breasted style was the perfect choice. Jane was a big advocate for no tie, so as a husband-to-be, this is exactly what I did. [It added] a casual, laid-back vibe to my overall look, which also felt very ‘Mitch’. Jordan and the InStitchu team made sure co-creating this special garment was heaps of fun.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “Spent the night before and the morning of our wedding together at The Calile. We’re so glad we did this. It meant we were able to soak up all the giddiness and excitement of our wedding morning together.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Every event needs a Taylor Kezia. Not only is she incredibly gifted at what she does, but she is also a ray of happiness, a calming presence, and an absolute dream to work with. Somehow, she floated everywhere effortlessly, capturing every tiny detail so beautifully. The best decision we made was hiring Taylor.”
