Living the ultimate Greece fantasy, Jaclyn and Dave have been together for 13 years, ever since meeting on the beach and starting their summer romance. Fast forward and these two opted for a whirlwind 7-month engagement. But the short and sweet time frame didn’t stop these lovebirds from collating a team of rad vendors. We’re talking The Arbourists on the entrance situation, Forever Soles on bridal heels and Elsa Campbell behind the lens. Scroll down for details and the rest of this big day…
THE VENUE “We always thought we would get married outside, either by the beach or in the bush. We looked at a winery, a farm, a yacht club and the beach. None of them seemed to really fit what we wanted for the day until our event planner, Emma Musgrove from ELM Projects & Events, told us about a rooftop car park in the city that they were transforming into an event space for a few days in December. We met Emma on the rooftop and as soon as I walked around I was sold! It had pale pink walls, a huge open area and an indoor space as well. The plans Emma had for the car park were incredible and we could also customise it for our day. The only catch was, we had to get married on the 14th of December and it was already July. Dave took some convincing but came around quickly. After all, it’s not very often you go to a wedding in a car park.”
THE VIBE “We wanted to have a wedding that we would really enjoy if we were guests. The must-haves for us were lots of food! So much food that you were full and not leaving hungry. The one thing we always crave at the end of a big night is souvlaki, so that’s exactly what we gave everyone. As the night was coming to an end, a shipping container that had been closed the whole time opened up into a pop-up souvlaki bar! One of the best decisions we ever made.”
REFERENCES “Emma Musgrove from ELM Projects & Events had done both my brother’s and sister’s weddings which we had at home. We had also been to a few events which Emma and her team had done and we were always blown away by the standard and what she produced for each occasion. We always knew we wanted her to be involved and that really is what helped our wedding come to life. Elsa Campbell was our amazing photographer! She was recommended to us by another photographer and by chance she had our date free! I had seen her work in the past and followed her on Instagram but never thought we would be able to book her considering how close we were cutting it to the date. It was absolutely our luck that she was free because our day would not have been the same without her and her assistant Kyra. Elsa made us feel very at ease straight away and her photos were stunning. We found our videographer Nathan Kaso through Elsa and he was brilliant! We hadn’t had a chance to meet Nathan before the day but he just jumped right in and it was like we had been friends already.”
LITTLE LOL “Our flower girl and niece, Hanna, who was four, had been a trooper all day and had wanted nothing more than to get into her dress. She was asking from the moment she woke up until it was time to get ready! She couldn’t stop twirling when she put it on and was even more excited to show Elsa her dress (because she’s like Elsa from Frozen!) After photos were taken and everyone but my mum and the bridesmaids headed off to the ceremony, I sat on the couch with her eating donuts and watching Bluey until it was time to leave. When we were almost at the venue Hanna let out a big sigh in the car, I asked if she was excited and she said, “ugh we haven’t even started yet!” Can always count on a four-year-old to keep it real”.
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Saw each other for the first time before the ceremony and did the bridal party and family photos beforehand. It took so much pressure off what was already a highly emotional day. It gave us a chance to take it all in rather than trying to steal moments later and we were also able to have a few drinks with our families and relax into the day. It didn’t take away any of the excitement from seeing each other when I walked down the aisle. If anything we felt more ready to get married.”
