Ines and Jia met through mutual friends while in high school then went to uni together, and while on a trip to Phillp Island, Ines asked her now-husband out. “I still can’t believe my 19-year-old self had the guts to do that!” she laughs. Eleven years later, the pair got hitched at iconic Melbourne venue Rupert on Rupert and had our gal pal Nikki McCrone along for the ride to take these gorgeous photos of their favourite people and their cute, much-loved pooch Willa (just look at her stealing the show above).

While Ines admits she “disliked the planning”, she also had these simple yet wise words to share when it came to the big day. “Just enjoy it and don’t stress. The day will fly by!” Start your scroll for all the best bits…

THE VENUERupert on Rupert was my favourite from the start, as soon as I walked into the beautiful conservatory with lush greenery. We loved both the ceremony and reception space, and the food was excellent! Rupert was our pick because it was the venue that was stunning, and required the least amount of coordination and work from me. The team at Rupert took care of catering, day of coordination and music. I also liked that the venue didn’t require much added décor as the plants were already a great backdrop.”

THE INSPO “There wasn’t a set theme: Jia didn’t mind, and I just wanted plants. I decided on a colour scheme of peach and blue, and our bridesmaid Grace kindly designed the invitations, the menus and the seating chart. I gave her some photos from of our dog Willa and she drew Willa in her designs.”

FAVE DETAILS “I loved the bouquets from Katie at Ripple Studio. The bouquet style was quite loose with lots of movement and colour and made for great props for the photos. Although we were on a budget, I did want to prioritise having added florals for a bit of colour. We came up with the brief of loose and airy, garden-style, still-life painting, and Katie absolutely delivered! ”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS “I had both my mum and dad walk me down the aisle, and it was really nice to have them both there with me while we were waiting for our cue. Jia and I also really liked that we took a break from the rest of the party to take golden hour photos with our photographer Nikki McCrone, who was awesome. It was lovely to have some quiet time together.”
