Three months into their engagement, Helen and Chace decided to tie the knot officially. Despite being in the process of moving houses and jobs, the two opted to have a combined engagement/housewarming party… and, now, a wedding! “One Sunday we sat down and reminded ourselves of why we were taking this step and agreed that we wanted a small intimate event with only our closest friends and family. We made a spontaneous decision… We decided it couldn’t get much worse if we did all events in the one weekend.”
Held at Green Park Dining in Melbourne, the pair landed on a casual wedding with boho and mid-century influences. “We wanted our guests to be in beautiful garden but technically in the middle of the city. Our garden/ green theme ran through our wedding, from the invites, to the ceremony to the reception venue,” explains the bride, who admits that (at the risk of sounding like alcoholics) the wine was her and Chace’s favourite detail from the day.
“James Madden, Green Park’s sommelier assisted us in selecting a perfect wine list for the night. Every one of his recommendations was breath taking whether it was a white or a red. All the wines were Australian, unique and each with their own story,” says Helen, who found her beautiful Love Found True bridal gown at The Babushka Ballerina.
While Helen and Chace tell us that the entire day (including the uncontrollable emotions and unrelenting rain) led to some incredible memories, they add that in order to kept thing simple and to budget, they kept their vendors to a minimum. That is, except for their gorgeous photographer It’s Beautiful Here.
“I had seen their work on Instagram and felt that it reflected our style and knew they would do a wonderful job capturing all the awkward moments. We had so much fun, Scout laughed with all our friends and family and teased and coaxed them into photos all day. We would love to work with her again.”
