It never ceases to amaze us what many hands can accomplish. Emma and Tom’s vintage, Gatsby-style wedding was a huge success, thanks to their loving friends and family who were more than happy to help. “We couldn’t thank our family and friends enough for their huge help”, says Emma explaining that almost everything except their textured native blooms by Heritage Flowers was DIY. Their archway, bunting, confetti bags, place cards, menus, signage, flower installations, festoon lights and photo wall were all done by members of their immediate family.
“I love all things vintage and floral and believe our wedding turned out to be an unintentional “Gatsby” vibe. It really began when I chose my dress and built the theme around it feeling like it was very 1920’s themed”, says Emma who wore a beautiful, embellished gown and headpiece by Bo and Luca. “I fell in love with their gorgeous hand beading and boho look gowns. I went to their studio in Brisbane and knew that I would find my dress in one of their collections. After trying on a few of their gorgeous gowns and with the help of Shannon (the designer) I decided on the Palm Springs design. The whole process with Shannon was great, she was very helpful and made me feel gorgeous and comfortable in her beautiful studio”, says Emma.
Though not a family member, photographer Kath Scott was handed one of the most important jobs of the day – to capture every magical moment. Which clearly she did. Jimbour Homstead, a historical home built in 1876 and located less than 300km northwest of Brisbane provided the perfect space for their day of days, while Firefly Cafe made sure guests were well fed throughout the night, until it was time to cut their white chocolate meringue wedding cake!
“We wanted the wedding to be relaxing and fun for our guests and chose Jimbour Homestead for its character and romantic appeal and to have our reception in the aeroplane hangar which we fell in love at first sight with.. ” says Emma who also picked one of our favourite vendors Fox and Fallow to design their invitation suite, program fans and menu blackboard.
