Get a load of Eliza & Pete’s proposal story. Pete proposed to his leading lady after stacking it in a creek atop an Icelandic mountain. He didn’t let his multiple bruised ribs get in the way, asking the all-important question whilst proffering a family heirloom ring (300 years old and “possibly belonging to a pirate captain”), sopping from head to toe. Thrilling, right?! Securing the superb Katie Harmsworth, their day was equally brilliant. Scroll down for the goods…
FAVOURITE DETAILS “I loved how well all the bridal party’s outfits all came together on the day! My dress was stunning and I was so lucky, as the House of Ezis hadn’t even released the dress to the public yet. I felt like the style was made just for me and then, of course, Andrzej tailored it to fit my figure perfectly. It was also such a special moment to see Pete in his dark green suit. I really wanted to make sure Pete, as the groom, stood out. So we made sure Pete’s suit was still a deep shade like the groomsmen, but his style, which was fun. The colour was so unique and really bought out his eyes!”
REFERENCES “Having been a bridesmaid to a few friends leading up to the wedding gave me a bit of a headstart in knowing what I liked and what my style was and wasn’t. I had already followed some accounts on Instagram before we started planning, so I had a pretty good idea of some of the vendors I was keen to use. I knew before we got engaged which photographer we had to have. It was non-negotiable. Katie Harmsworth just does such natural, beautiful “in the moment” photos! My close and extremely talented friend from Hey Sweet Peach did all my signage, invites and reception stationery and she made our reception look stunning! Another friend helped me with my rings (Jason Ip), and I can’t recommend him enough!”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “Apart from marrying my best friend, my favourite part of the night was when we all hit the dance floor. It was a hot night and the band was killing it. At one point the best man, who is an amazing singer, grabbed the mic and sang Paul Kelly’s ‘all the dumb things’ while the other groomsmen fought to dance with the mother of the bride. It was the greatest party of my life!”
LITTLE LOL “At the time of the ceremony, the temperature for the day peaked at 39 degrees. Following the ceremony and family photos, we were all melting. Luckily one of our lovely friends brought us the best cool-down combination ever, French champagne and Zooper Doopers! It was an absolute lifesaver!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “I feel that there is a lot of pressure to follow the ‘rules’ in having the perfect wedding. Pete and I had the best time and loved our wedding, but we always kept it relaxed. The three critical elements of an awesome wedding are to make sure you have great food, great wine and a great band. These are the three things we focused on for our wedding and it made it an amazing day.”
