Bridgerton-Inspired Intimate Wedding in Daylesford

Daisy and Matt’s nuptials were close-knit, family focused, and bloomin’ beautiful. The pair were excited to wed at Lake House Daylesford, and understandably so. The Victorian wedding venue is easy on the eye and was the perfect fit for the couple’s intimate 40-person guest list. Daisy and Matt put their personal stamp on the setting with Bridgerton-inspired design details, whimsical floral arrangements and flower motifs that extended to the bride’s incredible Monique Lhuillier gown.

They were taken by the one-and-onlyVictorian wedding photographer Nikki McCrone. “She had a really good intuition about what mood people needed from her,” the newlyweds said. “When my mum couldn’t stop crying getting me into my dress she made her laugh, when someone was in the wrong spot she had no problem being the one to fix it, she kept a good schedule and made everyone feel at ease.”

WEDDING MISHAPS

“The arbour broke just before the ceremony and the groomsmen all scrambled to get it back upright so that Daisy would never find out. In the middle of the ceremony I kept sneaking looks at the ropes we had used to hold it up at the back, and just hoping it wouldn’t fall on us. It didn’t and Dais was none the wiser.”

BRIDGERTON-INSPIRED WEDDING

“Florals and pastels were obviously a big part of the brief, but I was inspired by Bridgerton – I was obsessed with the elaborate floral arrangements and the whimsical elegance of the decorating in the balls and weddings of that show. I imagined my day to be romantic, whimsical, full of flowers and feminine touches. Pinterest was such a great way to curate all my ideas in one place and, like most girls, I had a wedding board for over 10 years, and although some things on it never wavered, like the soft colours and floral aspect.”

MONIQUE LHULLIER BRIDAL GOWN

“It was the first dress I tried on and while I did try on three others, there was no point, this Monique Lhuillier gown was the one. My experience purchasing it from Helen Rodrigues Bridal was amazing. They accommodated my fittings in one weekend for me, to avoid traveling back and forth, and were so easy to communicate with. I found the whole process so special to experience with my mum. We had been obsessed with Say Yes To The Dress for years and to be doing that together was amazing.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT

(Matt) “Seeing Dais turning the corner at the end of the aisle. It was amazing to finally see her in the dress I had heard about over the last few years and get to see what it actually looks like. She looked beautiful. Also, the ‘first look’ with the kids. Betty yelled out, ‘Daddy, I missed you’ and gave me a big cuddle, and Wilbur waddled over behind Betty slowly with a lollipop in each hand for a big hug.” (Daisy) “Our first dance. We picked up the kids and danced the four of us. It was so beyond special. Our daughter Betty said, ‘This is my favourite part of the day,’ and Matt and I both burst into tears. It was a really magical moment and my favourite memory from the day hands down.”

INTIMATE GUEST LIST

“I am so happy we did the small wedding and really focused on Matt and I and our kids. I wish I had listened to my gut on that decision sooner, because it was really hard to make that choice, but once I did, everything was so easy because I was really planning a wedding that was so Matt and I, and just about celebrating with our nearest and dearest. It was the perfect day in the end and [we] don’t regret anything about our day, just wish we could relive it!”
