This is one classy wedding, guys. Involving one seriously cute kid (the couple’s son who doubled as their ring bearer). Add the heritage listed location, an elegant gown by one of our faves, Grace Loves Lace (worn by not just the bride, but the bridesmaids, too) and a dinner setting that our garden wedding dreams are made of and you have this glorious wedding in the bag. THE VENUE “The history of this land. It was the first house build in Darling Point so is a heritage reserve. The legacy and foundation of this location represents the values I’d love for our family, so there was no other location worth considering. Plus, the garden is gorgeous and space intimate enough for a tight-knit wedding.”
THE DRESS “Grace Loves Lace. I had flown to Grace Loves Lace on the Gold Coast the year before to shop for the ideal dress, but it was Emergency Buttons (the tailoring shop in Darling Point) who ensured I had a perfectly-fitted gown. I went in 15-20mins each day, a week leading up to D-day and bit by bit, they tweaked the dress to ensure it would hug my curves. Highly recommend all brides to find an experienced, wedding gown tailoring service like Emergency Buttons to do this.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “When our two and a half year old son walked down the aisle with our rings. I had been envisioning this day since I found out I was pregnant. In reality though, since I was walking behind him, I actually didn’t see it happen so was asking the wedding planners a real-time, second by second playback. Probably the proudest moment of the wedding to have him part of this experience.”
MARRIAGE MEANS… “We got legally married in Hong Kong (where we live) before my mum passed, so she could be a part of the family union, so it was a private affair and a personal one. The wedding ceremony in Sydney was our opportunity to declare our commitment. At Lululemon (where I work), there’s a saying that “every great goal starts with a bold declaration’ and the wedding itself was just that. It also serves as a reminder for Jamie and I of what marriage really means, and that our ultimate goal is to stay happy and be grateful for all the love we’ve been blessed with.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “There really is nothing more important than embracing the togetherness of all your loved ones, so enjoy and soak in every moment of the wedding day. The pure joy from the day will override any hiccups from the wedding planning itself. It’s a choice, your choice, to be happy or to be stressed.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Sweet Pea and Honey Bee (florist), Whisper Photography by Ona Janzen and Emergency Buttons (tailor). So detailed oriented and they just got it. They understood what I needed and were super flexible to work with.”
