THE VENUE “We wanted somewhere where we could hold both the ceremony and reception and Lanky didn’t want people to have to travel. As soon as we saw the space at Grazing, it was a done deal. It was the perfect blank canvas, with a cool bar and beautiful gardens. We also wanted a relaxed, country feel without the rustic look and there was the added bonus of Grazing being an award-winning restaurant.”
THE THEME “After changing my mind a thousand times about the style of our wedding, I looked to my everyday life, my wardrobe and our home. I found a recurring theme of black, white and pink and it was decided. We wanted the flowers to be our main styling item, so I kept everything else simple with a modern monochrome look and added touches of colour with the napkins and Lanky’s suit jacket to tie it all together. I used the flowers and candlelight to add warmth and mood to an otherwise stark white room and we were thrilled with the result!”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “The flowers. Lilygrace Flowers made the most amazing floral masterpieces. She got my vision from day one- from the colours, to the choice of flowers and the structure of the pieces- they were just perfection. I also loved Lanky’s outfit! And I can’t forget the neon signs!”
REFERENCES “Mainly Instagram, however I found A LOT of inspiration from a bunch of real wedding blogs (Hello May being my fave).”
WE’RE GLAD WE “We were so happy we did a first look. Lanky hates PDA and having all eyes on him, so it was really nice to share that moment with just each other. However, I wish we organised a wet weather back up or picked a venue that had the option of both an indoor, or outdoor ceremony location. Our reception floor plan allowed for a ceremony set up with a bit of re-jigging, but there was little to no covered areas apart from the reception room which made both the ceremony and photos very difficult with such bad weather.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographers, Corrina & Dylan. It was like having your best friends with you the whole day. Nothing was too much for them. When we looked back our incredible photos, we were so shocked, as I didn’t even know they were around in half of the photos. They really do ‘fly on the wall’ very well. Our celebrant Kirili of A Girl Meets a Boy was HILARIOUS and the ceremony was so well catered to us that everyone thought we wrote it, but in fact, she did it all! We also adored our florist and Jess from Willowhouse Weddings & Events who didn’t miss a thing. She worked closely with our florist and went above and beyond the entire day to make sure everything was perfect.”
