After a “much longer than planned” engagement (we’re talkin’ two-and-a-half years here, thanks to COVID, of course), these two finally tied the knot in one of our fave nuptials right now. The bride was decked out in an incredible Lola Varma number finished with earrings by one of the best in the biz, Amélie George, and the groom sported the ever classy Oscar Hunt Tailors. Bright and beautiful captures by Miranda Stokkel told the story of the day and you can read all about it below…
THE INSPO… “Party. Vibe. Ferg (Al) was part of a DJ duo known as Bangers and Mash. Naturally, I was their #1 fangirl. We both love music and a good boogie, so having a wedding that reflected what we love to do most was our biggest inspiration.”
THE SUIT “We were recommended Oscar Hunt Tailors in Sydney by a friend who recently got married. Ferg knew he wanted a full linen suit given the time of year and location of our wedding. Fernando at Oscar Hunt Tailors was super helpful and accommodating considering we had a tight timeframe (thanks lockdown) and were moving to Melbourne between fittings.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “The best man’s speech was an absolute showstopper! And walking through the botanic gardens with our photographer, Miranda Stokkel, for the post ceremony photos was so fun [because of] Miranda’s old school funky playlist she had playing on a portable speaker. This created the perfect vibe for us to relax and have fun whilst getting our photos taken, I mean who can’t get up and about to Aretha Franklin – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough?!”
LITTLE LOL “Ferg set up his phone on a tripod at the ceremony and sent out a zoom link for all those who couldn’t attend. He had spent hours teaching his 90+ year old grandparents how to log in on Zoom, but one thing he forgot to mention was how to mute it. Safe to say they stole the show as they commentated the whole way through the ceremony, unbeknownst to them that every time they spoke their camera would become the main feature.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Trust in your suppliers, they’ve done it a million times before and know exactly what they’re doing.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Booked a car at the end of the night – best $150 we’ve ever spent. Also, asked our mums to be our ring bearers (same colour dresses was pure coincidence). This was a really fun way to include them in the ceremony.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Miranda Stokkel was amazing. Investing in a good photographer who gets you is worth everything. She made us feel so comfortable and so at ease all day, it was like our friend was taking our photos.”
