ASHLEY & DANIEL’S CENTRAL COAST WEDDING

The unwritten rule of a good party stipulates that there must always be at least one stand out moment (the more embarrassing the better, of course), and boy did Ash and Dan’s wedding deliver! Ash (who wore a gorgeous Rue De Seine gown from The Bridal Atelier) tells us that midway through a groove on the dance floor, Dan’s friend decided to do a strip tease! “He tried to stop after the shirt came off but the crowd had become too invested and made him go for the full monty. His choreography was on point- let a star be born!” Caught on camera by Joel of Barefoot & Bearded, you can see it for yourself below… if you dare.

THE VENUE Dan and I used to take drives on Sunday mornings down to Yarramalong and look at the property/animals- the drive down is stunning and we were set on marrying in this area. Yarramalong Farm Stay was the first property we checked out. The owners were lovely, helpful and easy going. The wooden house where the family were able to stay is our dream house- wooden exterior and interior, with an extremely large cactus sitting out the front. It suited our whole vibe for our day.

THE VIBE Tradition and formalities weren’t a priority for us- we aimed for more of a festival-like party vibe. We are huge collectors of antique lounges, lanterns, cow skulls, Moroccan and Mexican rugs, cactus and succulents. I feel as though our carefree, fun and alternative vibe shined through with our furniture, decor, choice of vendors and our run sheet.

THE DRESS I first saw the ‘Beau’ gown from Rue De Seine on Instagram. I sent it to my best friend telling her this was the dress. She found the stockist (The Bridal Atelier), booked an appointment and we drove down the next week. It was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love and knew it was the one. We ordered it that day. My experience was beautiful and calm.

REFERENCES Funnily enough my photographer, Joel of Barefoot & Bearded was the Second vendor I found. I found out about Joel through a friend who also does photography. When I Looked him up I had seen his work in Hello May and as Hello May was the only bridal magazine I would buy and read, I knew I wanted him. He was a huge help with offering suggestions on other vendors. He saw our style and pointed me in the direction of Nell Dark Jones from The Sassy Celebrants, and also told me about the music duo Brown Bear and Hooves. It all just fell into place. Choosing vendors who know each other made Dan and I calm about everyone flowing through the day well with each other.

A WORD OF ADVICE Choose vendors you can trust. They may cost more, but having that trust and staying calm throughout the whole process is priceless. Ensure you make a seating area for the bride and groom to sit and relax and enjoy each other’s company. This way the night won’t rush by and you won’t wake up in the morning saying to each other “hey how was your night?”. We’re glad we did the speeches in cocktail hour, with all the formalities done before the reception- it allowed us to go straight into the reception and dance, eat, drink and laugh with all our loved ones without splitting the night up or stressing about the next thing we needed to do.

STANDOUT VENDORS Our most stand out vendor was our photographer, Joel. Our families have become the best of friends. This man goes way beyond just being a photographer. He helped us throughout the whole process and we are so thankful. His creativity and eye for detail is incredible and his skills captured our day more perfectly then we could of ever imagined. We will keep these photos and the memories forever.
