If you follow us on Instagram, you’d know that every now and then we like to revisit some of our favourite couples. Anna and James from issue six were one of them and so here we are again, sharing their heartfelt story with you (just in case you missed it the first time!)
It was clear that someone special was watching over Anna and James on their wedding day. After a string of 40 degree days, a cool change arrived just in time. £If it was still 40 degrees on the day then I think we would have cancelled all the food and just served zooper doopers! says Anna, who was certain that someone special was her mum.
£I wore my late mother’s wedding dress, which was in turn her mother’s debutante dress in the late 1940s, she tells us. £One of many memorable moments of the day was when I walked out in my dress and dad burst into tears? I had kept it a secret from him that I was wearing my late mother’s wedding dress which she wore when he married her 31 years earlier!
Anna and James married at their local church in Kew, Victoria in front of their closest family and friends – including those that couldn’t be there geographically. £We had lots of friends and family who were overseas or interstate and couldn’t make it to our wedding, so we set up a video stream of the ceremony online that they could watch live? we had some friends watching it in San Francisco at 11pm, family in London at 3am, and other family in Brisbane at 1pm!
Once the ceremony concluded Anna and James went bush for portraits with their photographer, Julia Archibald of YEAH! Weddings, of whom Anna says £was so much fun, Julia photographed like a ninja and captured everything, including Anna’s bridesmaids’ twirling on a country road in their custom made vintage style gowns by Etsy fave Pastime Clothing.
Back at Hobba in Melbourne’s Prahran, it was time to get the party started. Anna says £the food was amazing! Everything was shared so we all got to sample about ten different dishes, such as lamb koftas with hummus, smoked almonds and mint, poached salmon fillet with hazelnut crust and dill sauce and sumac glazed carrots with goat curd. Yum.
