Does this place look familiar? If so, well done – it means you’ve already seen our gorgeous fashion editorial in Issue six, shot at Collingwood Children’s Farm where this lovely couple recently tied the knot.
“We wanted to create a unique and special place that reflected our personalities. We wanted a ‘Wedding Festival!’ – a relaxed fun festival vibe and the Collingwood Children’s Farm certainly provided that”, says bride Ange, who with help from Events by Kate and TipiKata created an outdoor wedding inspired by native flora, natural fibres and dramatic lighting. “The Tipis were incredible structures that seamlessly blended the interior with the exterior. They were open, breezy and gave panoramic views of the site…” says Ange who wore an elegant gown by Jason Grech.
Shot by uber talented photographer Pierre Curry, Ange – with her survival kit tow – was well and truly prepared for anything. “We had our dog, Peanut involved in the ceremony so we knew we had to expect the unexpected!” But it was their MC who pulled out all the surprises.
“Our MC Danny Walsh put together a rap that he organised with the band. It was a random funky number with the seven piece soul band providing the groove. This was just prior to our entrance to the tipis (the reception) and was a great surprise”, says Ange who after dancing thing night away to the contagious sounds of Deep Street Soul realised she’d returned home without her families heirloom ring.
“This was the ring that had been in her family for multiple generations”, says Cam. “We had to organise a metal detector and search party without alarming Grandma who was in the same house. Not such a funny story but it did have a happy ending”, he tells us, thanks to his best man who spied it on the grass outside.
