Timmy and Amie’s “rockstar royalty” Brisbane wedding left their adoring fans (aka friends and fam) cheering for more, with guests commenting that it set a “new benchmark for how a party wedding should be done”. To quote the Groom, the day had “just the right amount of sweet tradition and sensibilities with some serious gig vibes”, plus one hell of an afterparty at Leftys Music Hall where The Wet Whistles kept the good times going ‘till 2:30 am.
Red carpet ready, Amie declared her Grace Loves Lace gown “one of the best decisions” she’d made, and Timmy set the tone in a vintage-esque suit by his favourite A-lister outfitter John Varvatos, styled with M.J. Bale.
If you’re screaming ‘encore,’ we’re sorry to say that this show was one night only, but thankfully, Cloud Catcher Studiogot all the action, including those stunning blooms orchestrated by Garden Graffiti, portraits at the RNA Showgrounds (a nod to the many gigs Timmy and Amie have attended there) and surprise guest, the couple’s German Shepherd pup. MEMORABLE MOMENT “Our favourite moments of the day were our vows and everybody’s speeches. I have to deliver a lot of presentations at work, so I am usually pretty comfortable public speaking, but I was really struggling to keep it together on the day. I got through with only a minor choke-up, but it was a good thing I went first because Amie’s vows blew me away. Our parents, siblings, bridal party and MC knocked their speeches out of the park. Everyone spoke with the right amount of candour, wit and sincerity. Most importantly, and quite randomly, every speaker had a Fast and the Furious reference buried in there somewhere because #FAMILY.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “I’m glad we invested in Dalton Catering because the food was mega, and people are still talking about it. Also, very glad we stopped at the RNA Showgrounds for our photos even though we were running behind schedule. The absolute masterstroke, though, was calling time on the reception at 9:30pm and organising a bus for everyone to join us at Leftys Music Hall for kick-ons where we’d booked the mezzanine floor and our favourite hillbilly band, The Wet Whistles. We partied until 2:15 am.”
THE DRESS “My sister came with me to Grace Loves Lace and, by this stage in the wedding planning, there was a bit of time pressure on what dresses I may be able to order, [but] after some magic from the staff, I was able to order the dress I wanted, and all was well. In reflection, as daunting as it felt at the time as someone who always second-guesses decisions, the dress was one of the best decisions I made. It fit really well, was comfy, wasn’t restrictive or tight and didn’t need to be adjusted once on. I wore it for the ceremony, reception and kick-ons at Leftys – yeehaw!”
THE SUIT “I have been a big fan of John Varvatos since my first trip to the US in 2010. He’s a NYC-based designer specialising in high-end tailoring with a vintage rock and roll twist, [often outfitting] musicians and bands such as KISS, Alice Cooper, Lenny Kravitz and others for the Grammys. I wear suits for work and really wanted something different for Amie.”
LITTLE LOL (Timmy) “I did have to be a bit of a bastard in the months leading up to the wedding and reject Amie’s insistences that our dog should be involved in the day because it was too much of a hassle to organise. She was unaware that I had secretly arranged for her to walk the rings down the aisle mid-ceremony as a surprise.”
