Remember this scene from The Notebook? Where Allie thought Noah had forgotten him and Noah says “I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year.” It still brings tears to our eyes, much like Amber and Grant, who also share an epic love story…
“Grant and I had been pen-pals for over 10 years”, explains Amber. “We would instant message and email, sometimes every day for days on end, sometimes not for months or even over a year. This changed a few years ago, when we began sending each other daily, lengthy emails. It then became pretty obvious quite quickly this wasn’t some fleeting crush.”
Fast forward a few years and Amber found herself in Grant’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. “I met his friends and family and we fell in love! We both agreed we would regret it if we let another ten years pass without acting on the way we felt, so Grant then went through the overwhelming process of moving to Brisbane for us to be together.”
Their reception, which was captured by photographer Elleni Toumpas, took place at The Chelsea Bistro in Brisbane’s CBD after a short but sweet ceremony at Broadway Chapel. “After we said our vows and were announced husband and wife… it felt simply surreal to think of how far we had come”, says Amber who looked lovely in a stunning Karen Willis Holmes gown with a gorgeous hairpiece by Cotton Blossom and makeup by The Powder Room. Judging by his big grin, we have no doubt Grant was glad he’d made the move. And so are we, or it wouldn’t have been as good a story.
