They’d spent a decade together – mainly shooting wedding films – and after some consideration Alberto and Yago of A&Y Videography decided it was probably their turn to say ‘I do’. “After a long time filming couples in love, we decided to take the plunge and star in our own ‘best day’, says Alberto.
It wasn’t until their wedding planner and stylist Huis Clos Interiorismo located the perfect venue however, that their dreams became a reality. “Our first visit to the warehouse really excited us, it has been closed for 13 years and the feeling of freedom to create our own story there was awesome. The place was full of wine manufacturing tools, a chemistry lab full of beakers and small bottles, cans, metallic shelves… suddenly we had the place and the inspiration for our wedding!”explains Yago of the abandoned warehouse which was once used to manufacture wine.
Being well connected within the wedding industry also gave this pair an enormous advantage. Having already worked with their photographer Gore Vazquez, videographer Monika Frias and stationery designers Save the Date Projects they knew from day dot which vendors they wanted on their team. “The help of experienced professionals is the key. They will guide and create your own ideas”, advises Alberto who was over the moon with their decision to do things differently.
“Here in Spain weddings are very traditional, and we wanted to do something different, that’s why we were the first to arrive at the venue, and welcomed our guest to the party with a Bloody Mary and some pickles and with the 50’s classic cover songs of The Hellbuckers, an awesome band we hired for the event.”
Such badasses, Alberto and Yago seemed to bend the rules on almost everything – from getting ready together in the morning, to wearing the same suit and velvet Garcia Madrid bow ties. But neither of them wanted it any other way, encouraging other couples now to “thinking about arranging their wedding to do what they really wanted to do, and break the established rules. Your wedding is a very special day, and it’s worth respecting your own personality and style.”
