How’s this sound for a good time? All the eclectic, bold aesthetics of a Vegas wedding, BUT set in the cosy familiarity of your favourite local watering hole. Captured in the Hunter Valley, this styled shoot is the epitome of rock’n’roll, retro-inspired romance, while emulating the easy-breeziness of hosting close to home.

Sam of Peggy Mae Floral Design was the clever cookie behind this shoot concept, explaining that the goal was to “celebrate the fun side of love”. “Picture vintage cakes, pink Cadillacs, flash photography and a whole lot of making out on the pinball machine,” invites Sam. Plus, a flurry of disco balls, a sweet bridal mini, and shimmery pink boots made to party.

In assembling their team, Sam dealt a winning hand calling on KC Images for photography, and Sammie Cakes, too. Not to mention this good-lookin’ pair. Married IRL, chemistry in front of the camera comes naturally to these two. “They had originally planned to elope in Vegas back in 2020 until Covid cancelled their plans,” Sam explains. “Joining this shoot gave them the chance to live out their dream wedding, and they were all in for the fun.”

So let’s meet these creatives and get inspired. No passport required.

Bold Blooms With Attitude: Rock’n’Roll Wedding Florals

Eye-catching arraignments are what Peggy Mae Floral Design does best. Unapologetically bold, a little unconventional, and dripping in vibrant energy – if these blooms could talk they’d scream “F*ck yea, let’s get married!” True to form, the Hunter Valley–based studio went all in on statement-making red blooms. We especially love how Sam took a few key elements—rich crimson florals, mini disco balls, and candles – and used them generously to create an impactful moment that shines without hiding the venue’s rich character.

Candid, Loved-Up Moments: KC Images’ Hunter Valley Photography

Kaela (aka KC Images) has an eye for candid moments and an affinity for intimate, micro-weddings. So it’s no surprise that their style pairs seamlessly with the high-energy informality of a pub party like this one. “For me, photography is more than just taking pictures – it’s about capturing little moments that often go unnoticed,” shares Kaela. “I love finding beauty in the everyday, whether it’s a candid smile, or the quiet details that tell a story. Through my lens, I get to freeze those fleeting seconds and turn them into memories that last.”

Fun, Retro-Inspired Wedding Cake by Sammie Cakes

Also in the Hunter Valley, Sammie of Sammie Cakes is a self-confessed sweets’n’treats obsessed human, who’s completely self-taught (so impressive!) Sammie’s “more is more” style couldn’t be more compatible with this brief. Leaning into the vintage aesthetic, Sammie dished up a masterpiece that’s sure to soon feature in oodles of ‘cake inspo’ moodboards – a nostalgic love heart shape, finished with two-toned pink piping and cherries. Vegas-Inspired Wedding Styling: Tips, Inspo & Insights

After some tips on planning your own rock’n’roll, Vegas-esque vows? This shoot offers much food for thought.

  • First, you don’t need to commit to an overseas destination (and the jet lag/logistics/research that comes with), to achieve Vegas wedding vibes.
  • As far as the venue goes, don’t sleep on your go-to pub (or restaurant, coffee spot, or park, for that matter). A great team, like this trio, will be able to transform the space, truly making it your own for the day, while still highlighting features of the venue you’ve always loved.
  • Don’t be afraid to go big, bold, and unexpected with your florals, decor, dress…everything! If they scream you, embrace those loud details. Look out for vendors, like Peggy Mae Floral Design here, who thrive on that energy and can help you achieve a vision that’s both maximalist and cohesive.
