Joy at St Peter & St Paul’s is little old country chapel in Tregeagle, in the beautiful Northern Rivers hinterland, not far from Byron Bay.
Heidi and I came across the heritage-listed chapel a few years ago and fell in love with it. Built in 1899 and called St Peter and St Paul’s, it’s a lovely old cedar building with beautiful stained glass windows, loads of character and a pretty special setting amongst the rolling green hills.
We’ve spent the last few years lovingly restoring it, trying to strike the right balance between preserving everything that makes it special and making it a beautiful, comfortable place for people to enjoy again.
Our idea for Joy was always pretty simple. We wanted to create somewhere couples could get married without having to follow someone else’s idea of what a wedding should look like.
We only host intimate weddings of up to 50 people, and we leave the rest up to you. We don’t have set packages or a long list of things you have to do. You can bring in the people you like, make the space your own and celebrate in whatever way feels right for you.
Some couples want to keep things really simple, while others have a much bigger vision. We’re equally happy with either.
We’ve put a lot of love into bringing this old chapel back to life. It’s really nice to think it will now be part of so many people’s stories.
We hope you love it as much as we do.
