Hello, my name’s Tom.
I didn’t start as a wedding photographer. My practice initially focused on documenting moments of quiet contemplation while overseas. Then, after photographing music festivals and selling prints, an old friend asked if I could shoot his wedding. I didn’t realise how much I’d love it — photographing weddings is so creatively, emotionally, and physically intense. That was three years ago and since, my work’s featured in Hello May, Vogue, Wed Vibes, Together Journal and Fashion Journal, and has taken me to Belgium, Malaysia, Greece and, next year, France and Italy.
A couple, whose wedding I recently shot, mentioned ‘the way you capture emotion feels so true’. I love this comment. I aim to capture the natural moments and subtle details that reflect the essence of you and your day, as well as the love you share with your friends and family. I appreciate that a wedding isn’t only one day, but a celebration of so much and so many.
To put a label on it, my approach to photographing weddings is ‘editorial’. My wedding photography gravitates toward a more contemporary style, in terms of how I use framing, colour and light. This approach, when paired with an elegant or traditional aesthetic — in terms of dress code or venue, for instance — creates a unique sentimentality and style, especially on film.
I’m based in Melbourne, Australia, and am available to travel. Please have a browse through my galleries and if you like what you see, let’s chat!
