Hi, I’m Brooke, the photographer behind Brooke McBurnie Takes Photos, a Melbourne wedding photographer. I photograph love – platonic and romantic. There’s nothing sweeter than documenting a wedding filled with love and intentional choices. Taking photos with these core elements in mind allows me to experience the day exactly as it unfolds.

Ultimately, I just love taking photos. Photos of people in love. Photos of your best mates. Photos of your favourite flowers. Everything you love. Those are the best photos.

Being invited into your wedding day is something I’ll never take for granted. Tell me the things you’ve been planning for your whole life. Tell me the little details you’ve been pouring over for the last six months. Tell me the things you’ve woven into your day that really only mean something to you and your lover.

As a Melbourne wedding photographer, my goal is to create a gallery that feels just as personal as your celebration. Whether it’s the quiet in-between moments or the biggest celebrations of the day, I want your photographs to feel honest, emotional and full of connection.

My photography style is rooted in documentary storytelling, but I’ll always help prompt a moment or movement to create a beautiful gallery. I’m here to help you feel hot, to help you be fully enveloped in your day, and to celebrate itβ€”not let you feel stiff and awkward!

Alongside digital photography, I also shoot on 35mm and 120 film. Film has been at the heart of my photography for years because it encourages me to slow down, photograph intentionally and trust each moment as it unfolds.

Basically, I love love, and there is truly nothing else I’d rather photograph.

I wanna chat! Tell me about all the goodness you’re cooking up!!

FAQ

What mediums do you shoot on? How does this reflect in my gallery?

Film + digital!

I am deeply passionate about film photography. I have over 10 years’ experience shooting film and originally learnt photography exclusively on film. I shoot primarily on 35mm and 120 film throughout your day alongside digital. I don’t treat film as an add-on, but as the foundation of my art and your gallery. It allows me to shoot more intentionally, really thinking about each frame as it unfolds. There is such a magic behind a film photograph, from its chemical process to the nostalgia it naturally creates.

I LOVE FILM! FILM FOREVER!

I'm not getting married in Melbourne, will you travel for our day?

If there is one thing I’ll do for love – it’s travel, baby!

Through Australia or overseas, if you’ll have me and help me get there – I’d be honoured.

A beautiful benefit to this job is to be invited to places I’ve never been and experience a city, a town, a home to my couples. If there’s one way for me to be even more invested in the day is to explore YOUR area – likely, the place you’re being wed means something to you – I’d be so privileged to see that. Are you getting married a 5 minute walk from your family home? That means I get to explore the area you already have such deep memories attached to – I truly love that.
