I’m Madi, the photographer behind Madi Fitzgerald Photography, drawn to the real, the romantic and everything in between.

My approach blends documentary storytelling with romantic, editorial imagery. I love capturing the day as it naturally unfolds — from the happy tears and champagne-fuelled dance floors to the quiet in-between moments and all the little things you might not even realise are happening. When it comes to portraits, I love a mix of natural movement and genuine connection alongside more intentional posing and artful compositions. The result is a gallery that feels both honest and elevated, with photographs that are as full of feeling as they are beautiful to look at.

I want you to be present with your favourite people, soak up every second and trust that I’m capturing your story along the way. I’ll step back when the moments speak for themselves and step in with direction when there’s something beautiful to create.

Based in Goulburn, NSW, I photograph weddings throughout the Southern Highlands, across Australia and beyond. I’m a sucker for beautiful old estates, European-inspired venues and celebrations filled with personality. Ultimately, though, it’s the people and the feeling of a day that make it unforgettable.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style sits at the intersection of documentary storytelling and romantic, editorial imagery. I capture the day as it unfolds, preserving the genuine moments, emotion and atmosphere that make your wedding yours. For portraits, I love a mix of both worlds, from natural movement, laughter and connection to more intentional posing and refined, editorial compositions. Some photographs happen in an instant, while others are thoughtfully created. Together, they tell a story that feels authentic, artistic and entirely your own.

What makes your approach to wedding photography different?

For me, it’s about creating photographs that are both meaningful and beautiful. I love documenting the moments as they naturally unfold, while also taking the time to create thoughtful, romantic portraits with a more editorial feel. I want couples who value photography as an important part of their wedding to feel excited about the possibilities, from the fleeting moments they might otherwise miss to the artful images they’ll want to frame and treasure. From our first conversations to the final gallery, I’m invested in creating something truly special for every couple I work with.

Do you travel for weddings?

I’m based in Goulburn, NSW, and photograph weddings across Australia and beyond. From the beautiful estates of the Hunter Valley to the rolling hills of the Southern Highlands and everywhere in between, I’m always up for discovering somewhere new.
Whether you’re planning a celebration close to home or dreaming of a destination wedding further afield, I’d love to hear what you’re planning. Your venue doesn’t need to be somewhere I’ve photographed before, and distance certainly doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker!

What else can we add to our wedding photography experience?

Alongside wedding photography, I offer a few lovely ways to capture and remember your day. My Polaroid album is filled with instant photographs taken throughout your wedding, giving you a little collection of memories to take home on the night itself. I also work with a social media content creator who captures the behind-the-scenes moments, candid clips and little details you might otherwise miss, giving you beautiful content to relive and share while you wait for your professional gallery. Both are wonderful additions if you want to remember your day from a few different perspectives.

What if you haven't photographed at our venue before?

That certainly won’t stop us from creating something beautiful! While I’m always excited to photograph somewhere new, beautiful imagery isn’t about knowing a venue by heart. It’s about seeing the light, finding interesting perspectives and noticing the little details that make a place special. Whether it’s a grand estate, a countryside property or somewhere completely unexpected, I’ll find ways to make the most of your surroundings and create photographs that feel intentional, artistic and true to your day. Every wedding is different, and I love having the opportunity to see a venue with fresh eyes.
