Ceres Homestead

Location

There’s a particular kind of quiet that settles over Ceres Homestead in the late afternoon, when the light goes gold across the gardens and everything slows right down. After all these years, it still catches me.
Ceres sits in Central Victoria, a heritage homestead that’s stood for 160 years, surrounded by gardens that change with every season. I’ve spent a long time caring for this place, and opening it up to couples still feels like a privilege. We only host a handful of celebrations a year, and we like it that way. Keeping things intimate means we can look after you properly, and the day never feels rushed or off the shelf.
Picture it: vows in the garden, a slow afternoon among the old trees, then everyone gathered for a meal that lingers long into the evening. Our chef, Jo Neil-White, builds menus around what’s good and seasonal, and you can take home a fragrant memory of Ceres Homestead, a candle poured in our own signature scent.
My favourite hour is the one just before dusk, when the last of the light goes soft and golden and everyone settles in. It’s the moment I always hope stays with you.
There’s no template here, and no two days look the same. We’ll sit down together, you’ll tell me how you want the day to feel, and we’ll shape it around the two of you. If you’re dreaming of something small, timeless and a little bit hidden away, I think you’ll feel at home here. So bring your person, wear good shoes for the lawn, and come and see us. I’d love to meet you.

FAQ

What services do you offer for weddings?

At Ceres Homestead we focus on boutique, intimate weddings for up to about 80 guests, set across our 160-year-old heritage gardens in Central Victoria. As a heritage wedding venue, we offer ceremony spaces including our Garden Ceremony lawn, reception venues like the Vine Hall and Coach House, and styling spaces such as Duke’s Dressing Parlour for getting ready on the day. We can also arrange catering with our in-house chef, photography, and styling extras like our bonbonniere candles as keepsakes for guests. For larger celebrations of 80 to 300 guests, we work closely with White Top Events to bring our gardens to life on a bigger scale.

What is included in your wedding packages?

Each package is built around our heritage wedding venue, gardens and buildings, so depending on what you choose, you might have access to the Garden Ceremony lawn, the Vine Hall or Coach House for your reception, and Duke’s Dressing Parlour for getting ready with your bridal party. Catering can be arranged through our in-house chef, Jo Neil-White, and we offer extras like photography packages and our signature bonbonniere candles as a takeaway memory for guests. We’re happy to walk you through exactly what’s included when you get in touch.

Can you customise your services to suit different wedding styles or budgets?

Yes, absolutely. While our heritage gardens and historic buildings give every wedding at Ceres a beautiful, romantic backdrop, we know no two weddings are the same and work with each couple to shape the day around their own style and budget. Whether you’re after an intimate seated dinner for under 40 guests or a relaxed cocktail celebration for up to 80, we can tailor the spaces, catering, and add-ons to suit. Get in touch and we can talk through the options that work best for you.

What makes your wedding business different from others in the industry?

Ceres Homestead is a 160-year-old heritage estate set in beautiful European-style gardens in Central Victoria, offering couples a boutique destination wedding venue in Victoria that feels intimate and personal rather than big and impersonal. We focus on boutique celebrations, so couples get a setting with real history and character, plus the kind of attention to detail that comes from working with a small, dedicated team. From the gardens to Duke’s Dressing Parlour to our own bonbonniere candles, every part of the experience has been considered with our couples in mind.

Do you specialise in a particular wedding style or aesthetic?

Our style leans romantic, timeless, and a little bit storybook, shaped by the heritage buildings and European gardens that surround the property. We tend to suit couples drawn to a destination wedding in Victoria without leaving the state, who want their day to feel intimate, elegant, and a little different. That said, our spaces are versatile enough to work with a range of styling choices, so we’re always happy to chat about how to bring your vision to life within our setting.

Do you travel for weddings across Australia or internationally?

Ceres Homestead is a destination in itself, so rather than travelling to you, we invite you to come to us. We’re set in Central Victoria, easily reached from Melbourne and surrounding regions, and many of our couples treat their wedding as a mini getaway for themselves and their guests. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Victoria, we’d love to show you around the gardens and talk through what a weekend at Ceres could look like.

What should couples know before booking you?

Ceres Homestead suits couples after an intimate, boutique celebration at a heritage wedding venue in Central Victoria, with our spaces best suited to up to around 80 guests. For larger celebrations of 80 to 300 guests, we work closely with White Top Events to bring our gardens to life on a bigger scale. As a working heritage property, the experience is tied to the seasons, so it’s worth visiting in person before booking. Our wedding season runs late October to mid December and mid February to April, and dates within that window can book out quickly. We’re happy to chat through whether Ceres is the right fit.
